Whether you like them or not, TMZ does the dirty job of approaching celebrities on the street and sometimes gets good information out of them. Such is the case recently where a TMZ reporter, claiming to have just see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, approached Oscar Isaac and asked him about the future of Poe Dameron, or more specifically, if he planned on returning to the role.
The actor, sporting a beard and longer hair, was in New York and had stopped to sign autographs for fans and seekers alike. A TMZ reporter approached Oscar and asked, “Any chance we see you keep playing Poe?”
Here's what he had to say when asked about stepping into the cockpit of an X-Wing again...
Resistance hero Poe Dameron was one of the first characters we see and hear in the sequel trilogy, starting with The Force Awakens back in 2015, and along with Rey and Finn, was the center piece of this new generation of heroes. The three of them would of course lead the Resistance to eventual victory against the evil First Order, which we've seen depicted in The Rise of Skywalker, ending the Skywalker Saga, and perhaps their time on screen.
A popular character in his own right, Poe Dameron would eventually get his own Marvel series, written by Charles Soule, and was featured in Rebecca Roanhorse's novel "Resistance Reborn", which came out late last year. And just announced, he'll appear in his very own novel, "Poe Dameron: Free Fall" by Alex Segura, which will focus on the pilot's teenage years, before his time with the Resistance. That book, which is being published by Disney/Lucasfilm, comes out later this year on August 4th.
So, even if Oscar is "probably" done playing Poe Dameron on the big screen, there'll be not shortage of ways to get your Dameron fix.
But, in the world of Star Wars, never say never ever.
