New Star Wars Poe Dameron YA Novel Coming This Summer
Looks like fans of Poe Dameron are being rewarded this summer with a YA novel coming from Disney/Lucasfilm Books called "Poe Dameron: Free Fall"!
Matt Patches over at Polygon got the exclusive on this upcoming Star Wars book from writer Alex Segura (Peter Fernandez myster series) with cool cover art by Alice X. Zhang. Besides the error in the description about Kes Dameron (he was not a pilot) this looks like fans of Poe’s pre-sequel days on Kijimi will be in for a treat, and you can't have Kijimi without Zorii Biss and Babu Frik so expect appearances from them as well.
Poe's mother, Shara Bey, who died when he was just 8-years-old, is the reason he became a pilot so here's hoping the book explores his brief relationship with her and how much her death impacted his life. As we know from The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary, he still wears her ring around his neck.
Here's the synopsis...
It’s been a few years since Poe’s mother passed away, and Poe and his father, who was a pilot for the Rebellion, have had more and more trouble connecting. Not sure what he wants to do with his life, teenage Poe runs away from home to find adventure, and to figure out what kind of man he is meant to be.
Polygon got in touch with Segura though email, here's a snippet of what he had to say about his exciting new novel!
Polygon: The Rise of Skywalker set up lots of room for backstory — how does the book deepen what we saw?
Segura: I think Free Fall will answer some of the biggest questions fans will have coming out of The Rise of Skywalker: what was Poe Dameron’s secret history as a spice runner, and what does it have to do with the mysterious, helmet-wearing Zorii Bliss? The book will spend a lot of time with Poe during his formative teen years, where we see him grow into the man we meet at the beginning of The Force Awakens.
