Star Wars Is Everywhere: Episode XXVIIII

Posted By Mike on January 11, 2011

From pop culture references to one heck of a Star Wars tattoo, this edition of Star Wars is Everywhere is all over the place...

Star Wars popped up again this week on ABC's No Ordinary Family. Once again, the reference comes from Katie Andrews (Autumn Reeser) as she's describing an alcoholic beverage to her not-what-he-seems boyfriend, "Joshua" (Josh Stewart).

Joshua: "Can I get you another? What did you call that drink again?"

Katie: "This is the most popular cocktail at the Star Wars Cantina. On Tattoine it's pronounced 'yo-kappo.'" (sorry if I butchered that spelling!)

Later in the coversation, as Katie is about to reveal something personal to her boyfriend, she chickens out with the following...

Katie: "The truth is...that this drink originated in Alderaan, not Tattooine. It's a little known fact."

The coversation with the references begins approximately 9:13 into the episode, which can be viewed either at HULU or at ABC.com.

From ABC's No Ordinary Family, we turn to ABC's Modern Family where last week's episode featured a funny "Luke, I am your father" reference from lovable doofus dad, Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell). Let's just say that the reference involves Phil telling his son Luke (Nolan Gould) that those were the words he'd spoken to him during child birth. The reference occurs early in the episode around the 2:47 mark. As is the case above, the full episode can be viewed either at HULU or at ABC.com.

Check out Aaron's (Darth Roxus) new Star Wars tattoo! From OT images to the very TCW-looking Yoda, Aaron's back is now a walking talking advertisement for our favorite franchise. He asked that we pass a long credit to the artist - Hank from Niagara Ink in Niagara Falls, Canada - for his good work. Click on images for full views.

Our good friend John Tenuto sent over thr following:

"This is John Tenuto, a fan of the site who has sent news your way over the years. It was great to hear about the Blu rays!

My family and I recently started a non-political Ronald Reagan/popular culture blog for the centennial of his birthday. We have an article about the connection between Ronald Reagan and Star Wars during the years, including some fun facts. We thought fellow Star Wars fans might enjoy the article if you thought it worth a mention. Thanks again!"
