Star Wars Is Everywhere: Episode VIII

Posted By Mike on June 6, 2010

A variety of Star Wars references and links await in our latest edition of Star Wars is Everywhere. If you see something while out and about or notice an applicable link online, please make sure to bring it to our attention. If it fits the bill, we'll be sure to include it in subsequent editions. Until then, enjoy!

While we may claim that Star Wars is Everywhere, our friend Mitchell assures us that so are the Sith! Apparently the whole lurking-in-the-shadows/keep-our-existence-a-secret thing has fallen by the wayside. Click on the pic for the full view.
(Thanks Mitchell!)

Our veggie carving friend Oki from Japan provided the images above from the May 16th Kobe festival parade. (click on the pics for full views) While Oki and his friends represented the Jedi Order, numerous fan organizations took part. Star Wars music was played by a live band on the back of a truck, the Jedi Order provided a lightsaber demonstration, and if you look closely, there sure are a lot of Fanboys shirts in attendance.
(Thanks as always to Oki for his contributions)

If a dog in an AT-AT costume isn't enough of an example of Star Wars being everywhere, then I don't know what to tell you.
(Thanks Jedi Soljah!)

The Official Starwars.com Blog noticed that MSNBC host Rachel Maddow turned her highlighter pen into a lightsaber while answering some viewer mail on a recent episode.

WeAreCentralPA.com provides a short write-up and video report on the 501st Garrison Carida's visit to the Hollidaysburg Library in Pennsylvania.

LOST may be over but the discussions and debates will continue...until the inevitable LOST EU surfaces, but that's a whole 'nother sack of ancient black and white game pieces. Anyhoo, Cinematical examines what the show LOST owes to Steven Speilberg and Star Wars.

The Duff family, a family of Star Wars costumers, gets highlighted by the Chattanooga Times Free Press with a nice write-up and video.

The Straight Dope invokes references to The Empire Strikes Back as they look at the positives and negatives of salt. That's right, salt.
(Thanks to Joseph V. for the link!)

Last but certainly not least, TFN readers Zack and Dustin both wrote in to make sure we knew of the Star Wars reference at the beginning of the new trailer for Gulliver's Travels, starring Jack Black. Check it out below!
(Thanks to Zack and Dustin!)
