Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron Will Be A Trilogy!
That's right, one of the most anticipated novels of 2019 is Alexander Freed's "Alphabet Squadron" and today we learned that it will actually be a trilogy! "Alphabet Squadron" is set after the events in "Return of the Jedi" and follows a unique team of former rebel pilots, each flying a different class of starfighter as they struggle to end their war once and for all.
We've got a look at the cover of the first novel in the series as well as an idea of what it will be about. We'll meet Imperial defector Yrica Quell, who flies an X-Wing, as she and her teammates track down a mysterious lethal force of Tie Fighters. And it seems they are getting their orders from none other than New Republic General and hero of the Rebellion, Hera Syndualla! This first novel will hit bookshelves on June 11th, no word on when parts two and three will follow.
Also announced will be a Marvel Comics tie-in series featuring more of the same great action. Below is the announcement from StarWars.com and the first cover for Issue #1....
From a certain point of view, the rebels are traitors to the Empire, putting the innocent people of the galaxy at risk. In the last days of the Galactic Civil War, an elite squadron of TIE fighter pilots, known as Shadow Wing, is assembled to protect Imperial interests.
Starting in April, you’ll meet these brave pilots in Star Wars: TIE Fighter, a new Marvel miniseries set in the time of Alexander Freed’s forthcoming novel Alphabet Squadron, which we are happy to announce will be a trilogy. The exciting new crossover series from Del Rey and Marvel comics, set after Return of the Jedi, will follow the brutal fallout during the fall of the Empire from both sides of the battle.
The comic series is written by Jody Houser, who penned both Marvel’s Star Wars: Thrawn series and the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comic adaptation, with art by Rogê Antônio and other acclaimed artists, including cover art created by the team behind the recent Darth Vader comic series, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Elia Bonetti. The series will hit stores in April.
