Star Wars: X-Wing, Tie Fighter Get Re-Releases
Good Old Games, a digital PC game distributor, have announced that they will be releasing some classic LucasArts games to their platform, including Star Wars: X-Wing and Star Wars: Tie Fighter. The two games, which were released in 1993 and 1994 respectively, are considered to be some of the best Star Wars titles to have ever been created, and up to now, have been unavailable to play on most modern hardware (at least without doing some tinkering to your system).
To add to the fanfare, both X-Wing and Tie Fighter will be the "Special Editions" of each game. Aside from updated resolutions and sound, X-Wing will include the Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing expansions while Tie Fighter will include the Defender of the Empire add-on. Each title costs $9.99, which may sound odd for 20+ year old games, but in this case, it seems like it would be very much worth the purchase!
The critically-acclaimed RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is also available for purchase, along with other LucasArts titles such as The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis. GOG says that approximately 30 LucasArts games will eventually be available on their website.
