Star Wars Celebrated With New Limited Edition Individual Blu-ray Steelbooks
I'll be honest, I'm not too familiar with Steelbooks, however I looked forward to the set arriving. Once I got them though I didn't quite understand their appeal or their need for release. The cover of each film from the Saga is presented with new character packaging allowing fans to choose their favorite or collect all six for a limited time. Characters include: The Phantom Menace – Darth Maul; Attack of the Clones – Yoda; Revenge of the Sith – General Grievous; A New Hope – Darth Vader; The Empire Strikes Back – Imperial Stormtrooper; and Return of the Jedi – Emperor Palpatine. I'm not sure who chose theses characters to represent each film but they make up for it on the back with the appearance of each films theatrical release poster art. I feel these were released as an attempt to fill a marketing void leading up up to the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Also, it is an effort to rebrand the original six saga films for a newer generation as the film titles on the spines no longer use any numerical identifier. Something we've seen already with it missing from the title of The Force Awakens.
