Celebration Anaheim To Feature 3D Prequel Screenings
Many fans were frustrated by Lucasfilm's decision to cancel planned theatrical releases of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith in 3D. But according to Star Wars Insider #155, there will be a venue for all three prequels in 3D very soon: Celebration Anaheim, April 16-19, 2015.
Jayson over at the Yak Face Forums shared the news, courtesy of the Janury 20 issue of Insider, that fans will be able to watch the prequel trilogy in 3D and the original trilogy in 2D at Celebration.
Promotional material for Insider #155 says that the issue will be "previewing Star Wars Celebration: Anaheim with a guide to getting the best out of the convention experience."
The Phantom Menace was released in 3D in 2012. Attack of the Clones 3D was screened at Celebration Europe II in July 2013 and at a small U.S. event in late November 2014. Aside from preview footage of the Battle of Coruscant screened at Star Wars Celebration VI in 2012, Revenge of the Sith has not yet made its debut in 3D.
