You may remember from this press release that encore episodes of The Clone Wars were slated to start running in HD on TNT in February. We've been getting reports from our readers that TCW episodes ran for a few weeks, at the designated Wednesday night at 10:00 pm timeslot, but then suddenly stopped. The last airings were "Duel of the Droids" and "Bombad Jedi" on 3-4-09. We're not sure if the series has been cancelled on TNT or if it's being postponed to run at a differnent time. The Clone Wars page is still online at the TNT website but no information is offered as to when more episodes will air. The forum section is inactive and the episode guide only seem to cover Episode #1, "Ambush". Likewise, TCW can not be found on the general TNT schedule, as re-run episodes of the Fox show Bones has taken up residence in the 10:00 Wednesday night slot.
Multiple requests for clarification from Lucasfilm or TNT have yet to be answered. Needless to say, we'll keep you posted as we learn more and please shoot us an e-mail if you can shed any light on the situation. It's quite possible that with multiple airings on Cartoon Network and full episodes being offered online at CartoonNetwork.com, SW.com and iTunes that the TNT airings just weren't getting the ratings for which they had hoped. A bit of TCW over-saturation makes sense (especially since episodes are now starting to come out on DVD) but it would be nice to get some sort of comfirmation one way or another.
Jimmy Mac got a response from "Michelle" at TNT who said that TCW was only supposed to have been a limited run. Of course, this is not what the original press release stated, so is this the truth or damage control? The bottom line: The Clone Wars looks to be finished on TNT.
Again, more as we hear it...hopefully from Lucasfilm.
Thanks to all that have been sending over e-mails with their questions.
