Life's Too Short gears up for its UK debut, the New York Daily News goes in defense of the Prequels, a Yoda costume plus drinking and driving equals bad news for a German partygoer, we travel back to 1983 with Peter Mayhew, and more!
Our friend Cam reminds us that Life's Too Short is about to launch on BBC TWO in the UK and the second episode will feature a Star Wars-themed wedding. Before the show officially airs, BBC TWO will be running a "Making of" special on the 5th of November at 10:15pm. From BBC.co.uk:
"Ricky Gervais takes viewers behind the scenes as he discusses the making of Life's Too Short with co-creator Stephen Merchant and star Warwick Davis.
It offers a unique look at what to expect from the new BBC Two comedy, as well as an insight into how Ricky and Stephen work. The show features clips from the series and interviews with guest stars including Liam Neeson, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Cat Deeley and Sting."
For a bit of a refresher as to the show's plot, here's a previous quote from co-creator Ricky Gervais:
"It?s a single camera sitcom following the trials and tribulations of ?Warwick Davis, showbiz dwarf. Warwick is playing a twisted version of himself. He?s quite conceited and arrogant and manipulative. And he runs a [small person] talent agency, which he does in real life."
The premiere episode of Life's Too Short launches in the UK on Thursday, November 10 at 9:30pm. For fans in the United States, the show is expected to debut on HBO in early 2012. (Thanks Cam!)
Mike Jaccarina of NYDailyNews.com invites proponents of the OT to take another objective look at the Prequel Trilogy in order to appreciate the textured storytelling within.
The debate over how old a child should be before first seeing the violence within Star Wars is as old as the original films themselves. The Stir's Cafe Mom is the latest to ponder the dilema.
ReadingEagle.com reports on the 501st Garrison Carida's participation at the Reading Public Library's Halloween party.
A drunken 42 year-old man was arrested following a night of Halloween partying after hitting a pedestrian with his car and then leaving the scene in Darmstadt, Germany. How does this relate to the GFFA? The dude was dressed up as Yoda! Get the full story at News.com.au. On a side note, when Yoda's inebriated, does his speech sound normal?
From our friend H.B.: "Here's a vintage clip Peter Mayhew promoting Return of the Jedi on the UK's Saturday Morning Show No 73. First he speaks to some of the regulars, then later he competes in the Sandwich Quiz. Broadcast live on 28th of May 1983."
(Thanks H.B.!)
Finally, it looks like Japan's Defense Minsistry has been pulling inspiration from the GFFA with their spherical flying maching.
