Rumor Alert: Episode VII To Shoot Partly In IMAX?
Aint it Cool News, thanks to one of their readers named Cory, is reporting that IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond let loose the following statement at a a recent Goldman Sachs conference.
"We are talking to J.J. Abrams test now about the next Star Wars being used with partly IMAX cameras."
AICN speculates that the word "test" in the quote is actually a typo for the word "team." Either way, the rumor (at this point) is not the most surprising. While the world continues to ponder the effectiveness of 3D and IMAX releases, the use of IMAX cameras for select scenes, especially in action-packed blockbusters, still seems to be a popular tool. If you add into the mix that J.J. Abrams filmed various scenes from Star Trek: Into Darkess in IMAX, then the rumor isn't very outlandish. As always, we'll keep you posted as we hear more. Until then, rumorific this news is.
