Star Wars Is Everywhere: Episode XXXIX

Posted By Mike on May 11, 2011

Yet another mixed bag for you as Star Wars is Everywhere makes its triumphant return from like a week ago...

Star Wars references returned to NBC's Chuck on this week's episode in a couple fantastic scenes.

The CIA team of Chuck, Sarah (who's also Chuck's fiance), and Lt. Casey are trying to infiltrate an enemy hideout in a Columbian cave. Naturally they knock out a couple guards, Chuck and Sarah take their uniforms and they then proceed to march into the base with Lt. Casey as their prisoner. Sound familiar? At approximately 13:00:

Chuck to Casey: "Move it along Chewie."

Sarah: "Chewie? Why are you calling him Chewie? He didn't even eat anything off that disgusting platter."

Chuck: "Honey, it's a reference to Star W...Oh, I love you."

A few seconds later, as they're entering the base, Lt. Casey mutters. "I've got a bad feeling about this."

The Star Wars didn't stop there and popped up again later in the episode in a big way. There was a lot going on here as the show gears up for it's season finale. At this point Chuck's best friend Morgan has to impersonate an Italian arms smuggler due to their similar appearances. Chuck, Sarah and Morgan are sitting in an unmarked van before this new mission commences and Morgan is having second thoughts. At approximately 27:13, and following an awkward moment of silence, Chuck starts humming the Imperial March to try to get Morgan psyched up. Starting quietly, their rendition reaches a cresendo as the scene cuts to Morgan walking into a meeting as the arms smuggler and with the actual Imperial March playing loudly. Good stuff!

Who know's what in the heck is going on with the 2011 NFL season at this point. At least the folks over at NFL.com are keeping things in perspective by taking a little time out to recognize Star Wars Day by comparing Star Wars characters to some NFL personalities. Belichick as Darth Vader and Al Davis as Palpatine...I'm shocked!

Boba Fett is clearly the coolest bounty hunter in the galaxy and we appreciate that the good folks over at io9.com remembered that when compiling their list of the "10 Coolest Bounty Hunters in the Galaxy."
