Happy Father's Day to all the Star Wars-loving dads out there. The randomness continues in this edition of Star Wars is Everywhere but if you want a little something tying in Star Wars to Father's Day, make sure to listen in to the first part of the most recent 6-17-11 episode of the ForceCast. (Though you should really stick around for the full episode) Jimmy Mac talks a little bit about Star Wars and fatherhood and sums up what its all about rather nicely. Incidentally, I say start playing Star Wars music for your children as soon as they get home from the hospital if you can wait that long. That way, once they get to the ripe old age of 2, they will already be familiar with the music. Then, when you display how lightsabers, blasters, and little green Jedi go along with that music, they will be hooked. Works every time! But I digress...
Australian engineer Chris Malloy has built himself a very Star Wars-like hoverbike. While you can visit Jalopnik.com for images, details, and an air-flow demonstration video, there is no word on whether Mr. Malloy plans on taking his creation for a joyride among the Redwoods of California. (Thanks Som, Nick and Justin!)
It seems as though Star Wars will be making an appearance in the upcoming Seth MacFarlane film Ted as is indicated by photos at Celebuzz.com and Somerville.Patch.com. Actor Mark Wahlberg was recently on-set at the Somerville Theater in Massachussettes, in costume as Darth Maul, and while waiting in line to see The Phantom Menace. Click on the links to see the pics. (Thanks Steve!)
We should have something father-related in here today, so Darth Vader lands at #3 on the Time.com list of the worst fictional fathers. (Thanks Ray!)
Ok, so let's balance the bad fathers list with a list from EmpireOnline.com of "10 Movie Father Figures Better Than The Real Dads." (Thanks Justin!)
Continuing with another submission by TFN reader Ray (who sent over the worst father list a couple entries above)...
"The Official Bob Burns web site has something you might like to share... Among his Halloween Extravaganzas photo albums he shares, Trick 'r Treat 5 offers a rare glimpse of none other than Rick Baker wearing the full costume of "The Demon" in their 1974 production of "The Thing in the Attic". On closer inspection you'll notice that "The Demon" is the costume that would be reused for the the "Defel" Ariel Schous in the Mos Eisley Cantina. However, the hands of "The Demon" are those of the used by the Abyssin named Myo in the Cantina sequence as well. Well, I was impressed. :)"
As are we! Thanks again Ray.
OhDeeDoh.com displays the Scandanavian-inspired Star Wars posters created by Jan Sk?cel?k.
Do you consider Pamela Anderson in a Stormtrooper helmet disturbing or hot? Decide for yourself with the pictures of the former Playmate partying in Buenos Aires at EOnline.com or at TMZ. (Thanks Lee!)
Ben Kenobi in A New Hope is featured in the Blastr.com list of "11 of the most egregious lies from sci-fi movies and TV."
If certain lines of dialogue in A New Hope were tweaked just a little bit, the saga could have ended rather abruptly. Dorkly.com takes us through this what-if scenario by reimagining 8 lines of dialogue.
The ongoing NFL lockout and the just-concluded NBA finals bring forth some sports Star Wars comparisons in a couple articles. The Seattle Seahawks fan site SB Nation compares a number of current and ex-NFLers to Star Wars characters. Meanwhile the pro-Dallas Mavericks ranting video below from Flula utilizes a number of Star Wars comparisons. (Thanks Joseph!)
Diane Ferraro at ElephantJournal.com pontificates that its Chewbacca's loyalty towards Han Solo that led to her life-long crush on our favorite Wookiee.
TorontoSun.com has video and a nice write-up about the recent Star Wars wedding of Kira Desrosiers and Mike Huget in Winnipeg.
Star Wars meets The Cloud in this funny comic from Virtual Shackles. (Thanks Jay!)
TFN reader Amie C. wrote in to make sure we were aware of a multiple-part profile on The Maker at the FlickeringMyth blog.
"Just thought I would email you about an article I found today which could be interesting for your readers, part one and two of a detailed George Lucas profile, part two covers Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back along with Raiders of the Lost Ark..."
Collector's Weekly dives into the fun that are the Mondo movie posters and naturally Star Wars figures into the mix. Click here! (Thanks Lisa!)
