Nanna
this was the nickname given to the modified Defender Droid owned by Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, and used as a guardian and care provider for their son, Ben, during the years following the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. Nanna accompanied Ben during the time he spent learning from his cousin, Jacen Solo, and was instrumental in helping them escape from a Gorog attack on Tenel Ka and her infant son on Hapes. (DN1, DN2)

Nelvaan
this planet was the primary world in the Koobi System, which was located some thirteen parsecs from Tythe. Note that Labyrinth of Evil indicates that the planet is part of the Nelvaan System. The planet's location in the Outer Rim kept it free of the influences of the Old Republic, although several Bothan freighters made regular runs to Nelvaan to acquire the pure water that flowed from glacial runoffs. When the Old Republic's forces nearly captured Count Dooku on Tythe, during the final stages of the Clone Wars, many Separatist ships jumped from Tythe to Nelvaan to escape the battle. This was mainly a ruse, since the ships only briefly remained at Nelvaan before jumping to a nearby location and then to Coruscant, where they assisted General Grievous' forces in the First Battle of Coruscant. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were dispatched to Nelvaan to investigate, and discovered the Nelvaanians - a race of feline beings which appeared to be made up of only females and children. The males had been captured and twisted by the Separatists as part of an experiment for creating their own organic army. Anakin, in a trial ordered by the natives and decreed by Obi-Wan to be his final test, destroyed the Separatist facility and freed the males. (LEV, CWC3, OWS, SWDB)

Nelvaanian
this feline race of beings was native to the planet Nelvaan. At the time of the Clone Wars, the Nelvaanians were a simple people, living in small tribes without any thought of planetary government and the galaxy at large. (OWS, SWDB)

Nirama
this strange alien - a member of the Oblee race - was the major crimelord active in the Cularin System during the last years of the Old Republic. Nirama started out in the crime business as one of Riboga the Hutt's accountants and chief lieutenants. Despite his position within the organization, Nirama despised slavery, and often turned a blind eye to that part of Riboga's business. Unknown to Riboga, however, Nirama had been manipulating events behind his back. Nirama was also skimming profits and falsifying records to make it appear that Riboga's operations were unprofitable. Then, during a high-stakes sabacc match, Nirama played Riboga into a position where he was forced to put up control of his criminal organization as collateral. Riboga, fearing that the organization would destroy him, gladly turned over control to Nirama upon losing the final hand. Nirama then assumed control, and set up his base of operations in the Cularin System's asteroid belt. Nirama ensured that his hold on the belt was legalized by purchasing the rights to the largest asteroid. In an effort to put a better spin on the work he and other crimelords were doing in the Cularin System, Nirama agreed to be interviewed by Yara Grugara for the Eye on Cularin newsfeed. He spoke in the third person, never referring to himself as "I," and barely restrained his anger at Grugara's ingratiating demeanor. Nirama's empire was known by the simple title of The Consortium, and referred to the entire scope of his relationships. He demanded unswerving loyalty to the Consortium, and detractors such as the fringe group known as The Cell were swiftly dealt with. Despite his criminal background, Nirama was outwardly loyal to the Cularin System, and made sure that his public intentions were always of the best nature. He even claimed that his ouster of Riboga was in the best interests of Cularin. When the Thaereian Militia began to make inroads in the Cularin System, Nirama watched for a while before adding his own ships and soldiers to the fight to keep Cularin independent, having come to think of the system as his home. His loyalty to Cularin wsa rewarded - and, indeed, increased - when the Oblee were returned to the galaxy after the darkstaff was destroyed. Nirama disappeared forever shortly after the end of the Clone Wars, and a recorded message was broadcast across the Cularin HoloNet nodes, in which Nirama professed his loyalty and thankfulness to the people of Cularin. In the recording, Nirama explained that it was the people of Cularin who taught him was loyalty was, and what real heroes were made of. In the end, he wished the people of Cularin all the best. Nosaurian
this alien race was native to the planet New Plympto. The average Nosaurian was a blue-skinned reptiloid which stood nearly one and a half meters tall, with long arms and short legs. Their skulls were crowned with a ring of bony horns, and their pointed snouts were ridged with scales. These horns were an indication of an individual's demeanor, as old or quarrlesome individuals will have many broken horns. As a species, Nosaurians could only see visible light on varying degrees of black and white. They characterized most colors by their particular shade of gray. The inside of a Nosaurian's mouth could be lit with a phorphorescent glow at will, a trait which even the Nosaurians could not describe in terms of an evolutionary need. However, it provided them with a way to comminicate across distances at night, without giving away their position by making noise. Individuals had exceptionally fast reflexes, a trait which allowed Nosaurians to excel as pilots or athletes. Nosaurians were also noted for a specific quirk: they always bayed at the setting sun. This response seemed to be almost involuntary, and resulted in seemingly strange behavior among those Nosaurians who traveled offworld. During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, the Nosaurian race resisted the subjugation of their homeworld with ferocious wills. Unfortunately, the Nosuarians were wiped out by a bio-engineered plague unleashed by the alien invaders, in retaliation for their resistance. Only a handful of Nosaurians were offworld at the time, and represented the very last members of their race. (SWI64, WOTC, CCW, GMR9, RIU)

Oblee
this race of heavy-set beings was distinguished by their pinkish skin, and had two pairs of eyes on their fleshy face. An Oblee also had three arms, the two on the left side and one on the right. The Oblee were rare in most parts of the galaxy, and unseen in the rest, after they were nearly wiped out by a Sith warrior using the Darkstaff more than 1,000 years before the Clone Wars. Those that were killed instantly were drained of any Force energy they might have had, and their bodies were discarded. Many who survived were maintained in a form of stasis, as a source of Force energy for the Darkstaff. A few others were "seeded" throughout the galaxy, for later use by the Darkstaff. When the Darkstaff was discovered to have been the artifact behind the disappearance of the Cularin System, its hold on the few surviving Oblee was broken, and they returned to the galaxy near Cularin. The skin color of an Oblee varied from individual to individual, but all Oblee tended to turn gray as they aged. It was Nirama who discovered the newly-returned Oblee, and learned that their original homeworld of Oblis had been destroyed by the power of the darkstaff. Its debris eventually formed the Cularin System's asteroid belt. (LFCW)

Olin, Ferus
this young man was training to become a Jedi Knight, some five years after the Battle of Naboo. A noble-looking young man with maturity beyond his years, Ferus had been the chosen Padawan learner of Siri Tachi at the time, and was training at the same time as Anakin Skywalker. Ferus constructed a red lightsaber during his training, a fact that raised many eyebrows in the Jedi Temple. His experiences with the training at the Temple were hard on Ferus, who was friendly with many students but never true friends with any one being. He focused solely on his training, a fact that led his fellow students to call him the "ruler of Planet Dull." He felt that the Force and his Jedi training were simply missing pieces in his life, with the tenets of the Jedi Order seeming to fit into grooves in his mind. Ferus was an older student with a great deal of experience, being about two years older than Anakin, and he had the charisma and fortitude to take control of a situation without hesitation. Many Jedi Masters even considered him among the strongest Padawans of his generation, second only to Anakin. His experiences in the Crystal Cave on Ilum only reinforced his position, as the visions he encountered seemed to show that his desire to be the best apprentice would lead to his downfall. When he was teamed with Anakin Skywalker during the evacuation of Radnor, some five years after the Battle of Naboo, the two young men found themselves constantly at odds to provide leadership to the Padawan team. The two vowed to keep an eye on each other, as both held reservations about the other's true motives. Later, they were paired on a mission to locate Jenna Zan Arbor on the planet Romin. Posing as the criminals Waldo and Ukiah, they managed to explore the outer edges of the city of Eliior, during which time Anakin and Ferus discovered that they both fell into a rapport without any effort. However, it was on Romin that Ferus explained to Obi-Wan Kenobi that he feared for Anakin at the same time he admired him, and worried that Anakin's sense of what was right was clouded by his own inner conviction. This unburdened Ferus of his fears, and allowed him to reach a better understanding of Anakin and his abilities. In short order, the two Padawans began working well together, an occurrence that made the pursuit of Granta Omega, Jenna Zan Arbor, and Roy Teda that much easier. The four Jedi tracked down every possible lead, until they realized that Granta Omega's true target was Chancellor Palpatine himself. Obi-Wan and Anakin had managed to keep Palpatine safe, but Obi-Wan was forced to leave Anakin with the Chancellor in order to locate Omega. When Siri and Ferus reached tham, Ferus agreed to watch over the Chancellor while Siri and Anakin when to assist Obi-Wan. Thus, Ferus was the only Jedi in Palpatine's vicinity when Omega's seeker droids attacked the Senate chambers. Ferus found valiantly, until he found himself guarding both Palpatine and the fleeing Roy Teda. Despite deflecting the attacks of five or more droids, Roy Teda was shot and killed. In the aftermath of the fighting, Ferus believed that he had failed. Even though Roy Teda was one of most vehemently anti-Jedi voices in the Senate, Ferus still mourned his death. Upon returning to Coruscant, Ferus was chosen by the Jedi Council to be the first candidate for an accelerated program meant to promote students to Knight status earlier. He then accompanied the team that was dispatched to Korriban to apprehend Granta Omega. He found himself forced into a competition with Anakin, who believed that he should have been chosen in Ferus' place. As Anakin became more aggressive, Ferus found a new friend in Tru Veld. When Tru's lightsaber was damaged in a fight on Korriban, Ferus tried to repair it, so that Tru would have a chance to continue the mission. However, his repairs caused the lightsaber to drain power at a faster rate, and Tru was left weaponless during another battle. Because of this, Darra Thel-Tanis was left undefended, and later died from a laser blast. Ferus believed himself to be responsible, and decided to leave the Jedi Order upon returning to Coruscant, despite the success of the overall mission. It was then that he learned that Anakin had done some prior repairs to Tru's lightsaber, but had failed to tell him about it. Ferus never forgave Anakin for his lack of assistance, and left the Order knowing that he had done everything he could, but forced to live with Darra's death on his conscience. It was believed that Ferus had served as an officer for the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, where he met Roan Lands. After retiring, Ferus eventually found a home on the planet Bellassa, where he escaped the Jedi Purge, but he soon found that his connection to the Force was growing weaker. However, he witnessed first-hand the might of the Empire when the Bellassan governor was removed in favor of an Imperial governor. He and Roan formed the Eleven, and began to speak to the citizens about demanding their former freedoms, causing several demonstrations that were put down by Imperial forces. Then, Ferus was hurt and Roan captured in a raid, and he was forced to retreat into the mountains. He was being tended to by Dona when Obi-Wan Kenobi located him, and together they were able to free the hostages held by Inquisitor Malorum and flee Bellassa. It was during their escape the Ferus was able to reconnect with the Force, and although he refused to admit that he was still a Jedi, he promised to seek out any survivors of the Jedi Purge. However, they were pursued to the Red Twins by Boba Fett and D'harhan, and only barely escaped to Acherin. There, they were forced to split up, with Ferus going to Ilum to locate Garen Muln, while Obi-Wan went to Polis Massa. Ferus and Trever Flume managed to locate Garen, only to find themselves surrounded by stormtroopers. This forced Ferus to reconnect with the Force in a way that he thought was lost to him, and even Garen recognized his newfound skills. When the time came to fight, Garen gave his lightsaber to Ferus, knowing that the younger man had a better chance of defeating the stormtroopers. After escaping with Garen, Ferus vowed to establish a safeworld on a hidden asteroid, where members of the Jedi Order could hide from Imperial tyranny. He was confused when Obi-Wan chose to return to Tatooine, but realized that he had once again become a Jedi Knight, and needed to take matters into his own hands to preserve the Jedi way. Omas, Cal
a native of the planet Alderaan, Cal Omas was a member of the Alliance from its earliest days. He survived many battles and struggles, and eventually rose to become a Senator in the New Republic. He was sympathetic to the plight of Luke Skywalker, who hoped to restore the Jedi Council in order to rein in the independent Jedi acting with Kyp Durron. Unfortunately for the Jedi, and for many of the galaxy's inhabitants, Senator Omas was among those Advisory Council members who were lost in the wake of the Second Battle of Coruscant. He reappeared on the planet Calamari, leading the remnants of the Republic's leadership in an effort to re-establish control of the galaxy. When the self-appointed Chief of State Pwoe refused to join the Republic on Calamari - instead, calling for them to join him on Kuat - the remnants of the Republic ostracized Pwoe and elected Omas to serve as the new Chief of State. Among his first acts, Cal Omas vowed to recreate the Jedi Council, working with Luke Skywalker to form the High Council. He continued to work toward ending the war with the Yuuzhan Vong and bringing the galaxy back together, and was one of the first to support to formation of the Galactic Alliance. However, the toll of the war continued to drain him, and it was one of his most difficult decisions to allow a new strain of the Alpha Red virus to be deployed on Caluula. After hearing the report of Leia Organa Solo from her experiences on Caluula, Omas agreed that the Alpha Red project needed to be shut down, but Leia knew that pressure from Dif Scaur might only postpone further deployment. Eventually, the Yuuzhan Vong were defeated, and Omas began to think that the war was much easier to deal with than the Reconstruction that followed. He was forced to try and balance the needs of the entire galaxy against the various petitions and demands for assistance from refugees and dishomed races, as well as ensuring that corporate interests didn't become too burdensome or illegal. In order to maintain some semblance of order, he made far too many compromises, and was often forced to bow to the demands of the rich or wealth corporations. This only allowed the corruption that destroyed the Old Republic to begin seeping back into the Galactic Alliance Senate. When the crisis with the hives of the Colony arose at Qoribu, Omas was forced to defend the Galactic Alliance, but at the expense of further dishoming many of the races that had been driven off their homeworlds by the Yuuzhan Vong. The initial crisis, which included a war with the Chiss, was averted, but the Dark Nest was not destroyed. He used the continued trouble with the Gorog hive as a pretense for avoiding the need to address the problems associated with galactic reconstruction. A year later, he was forced to blockade the Utegetu Nebula in an effort to keep the Colony from expanding beyond its borders. He was also forced to demand that the Jedi name a leader, while Luke Skywalker was stranded on Woteba, and pushed to have Corran Horn assume leadership of the Jedi council. He hoped that Horn's conservative stance would splinter the Jedi Order, creating a body of squabbling factions that were unable to react to the crisis caused by the Dark Nest. Omin, Isaru
this man was one of the Senate Guards, serving under Commander Zalin Bey during the years following the Battle of Naboo. Isaru and his partner, Sagoro Autem, were assigned to investigate the murder of Jheramahd Greyshade, allowing Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker to protect Simon Greyshade. Obi-Wan discovered that Isaru was quite sensitive to the Force, and Isaru revealed that he had been tested but was considered too old at two years of age to be trained. As the investigation proceeded, revealing that Greyshade's killer was Sagoro's older brother, Venco Autem, Isaru had to struggle to keep his personal feelings out of the investigation. He reluctantly supported Zalin Bey's order for Sagoro to leave the investigation, knowing that it was best for Sagoro's career. When the investigation was completed, after Sagoro was forced to shoot and kill Venco to protect Simon Greyshade, Isaru found himself between a rock and a hard place. Sagoro was his best friend, but Sagoro also planned to allow his son Reymet to flee Coruscant. Reymet would have been imprisoned for providing Sagoro's authorization codes to Venco, who used them to gain access to the Senate Rotunda. Isaru had planned to arrest Reymet, but was forced to arrest Sagoro instead. During the height of the Clone Wars, Omin was part of a Guard detachment that was assigned to protect Senator Bail Organa. In the wake of the Clone Wars, Isaru learned that his old friend Sagoro was on Coruscant, attending the ceremonies that announced the formation of the Imperial Fleet. When he learned that Sagoro had been targetted for arrest, Isaru took a chance and went to Sagoro's apartment to tell his friend to flee the planet before he was captured. When questioned about his motives by Sagoro, Isaru claimed that he was unable to reconcile serving in the new Imperial armed forces, and that his loyalties remained with his friends. Unfortunately, Isaru was confronted by Darth Vader shortly afterward, and the Dark Lord of the Sith was not happy that Sagoro had escaped. In his anger, Vader cut Isaru down with his lightsaber, ending his life with one swift stroke. (RHD, RHF, RL)

Ooamu Waoabi
this elderly Ithorian male was one of the oldest surviving members of his race, in the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. He led the Council of Ithorian Elders, a small delegation of Ithorians that petitioned the Reconstruction Authority to prioritize the location of a planet that was suitable for Ithorian settlement. When his pleas seemed to fall on deaf ears, he agreed to meet with Leia Organa Solo to discuss a possible relocation to Woteba, a planet she had found in the Unknown Regions. Their plans were thwarted when Cal Omas arrived to demand a resolution to the conflict between the Colony and the Chiss, and Leia was forced to agree that Woteba was more suitable for the relocation of the Qoribu hives. Waoabi reluctantly agreed to this arrangement, but only because it was Leia's idea to keep working on a planet for the Ithorians. To this end, she personally petitioned Omas to repeal the RePlanetHab claim to the planet Borao, so that the planet could be turned over to the Ithorians. (DN1, DN2)

Open Circle Armada
this was the Old Republic naval task force that was commanded by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, during the height of the Clone Wars. At its height, the Open Circle Armada had five separate fleets, each capable of independent actions against the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The symbol of the Open Circle Armada was a simple circle formed by two semi-circle arcs, although each arc was separate from the other, resulting in the open-circle image. Each arc represented one of the Jedi Knights, and the entire symbol signified that Kenobi and Skywalker were the two halves of a single entity. As the fighting of the Clone Wars spread, units of the Open Circle Armada were split off and sent to other parts of the galaxy, where their specific talents or firepower were needed. Over time, a larger portion of the Old Republic's Navy adopted the Open Circle symbol as a symbol of the Republic itself. It was even discovered on war materiel that had been captured by Separatist forces and used on far-flung planets such as Mustafar. (X3, SWI85)

Ord Vaxal
this planet served as a penal colony during the last years of the Old Republic, with facilities for psychiatric treatment as well as maximum security jailcells. About twenty years before the Battle of Yavin, a planet-wide jailbreak overthrew the current overseer and his wardens, and the criminal population took control. This anarchic form of society prevailed for many years, until the Empire took control of the planet. The lawless population was then forced to submit to Imperial rule. The planet itself was the primary world in the Vaxal System of the Inner Rim. It was orbited by a single moon. (OWS, DM106)

Osh Scal
this Polis Massan was one of the many members of the archaeological team that was investigating the ancient civilization of the sundered world of Polis Massa, during the last years of the Old Republic. After the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi briefly adopted the alias of Osh Scal when he was cornered on Polis Massa by Inquisitori Sancor. When Sancor discovered the ruse, he tried to apprehend Kenobi and Maneeli Tuun, but they managed to avoid capture. (VD3, LJ2)

Pellaeon, Gilad
the elderly Imperial Navy Captain in command of the Chimaera, Pellaeon took the remnants of the Imperial fleet and retreated from the Battle of Endor. Born on Corellia years before Anakin Skywalker, Pellaeon lied his way into the Judicial Forces when he was just fifteen. While serving aboard various starships with the Old Republic, he learned about the ebb and flow of politcal tides, and saw that the military was something of a constant. He developed a military sense that kept him in the background, making sure his troops were well-fed and respected, rather than bullying them into submission. After the death of Emperor Palpatine at Endor, Pellaeon had no desire to lead the Empire, but he felt it was his duty to keep the Imperial fleet together. Thus, when Grand Admiral Thrawn emerged from the Unknown Regions to take control of the Empire, Pellaeon was more than willing to turn the fleet over to Thrawn, despite Thrawn's obviously alien background. He served Thrawn well, respecting the alien's uncanny insights while providing tactical assistance when necessary. Following the death of Thrawn at the hands of his own bodyguard, Rukh, Pellaeon took Thrawn's remaining ships and fled to the Core Systems, where he came in contact with High Admiral Teradoc. The two marshalled a large fleet of Victory-class Star Destroyers, and rivaled Harrsk for leadership of the Imperial forces for a number of years. When Daala showed up and tried to combine the strengths of the feuding warlords, Pellaeon sided with Daala, who only wanted to restore the Empire. The two of them arranged a summit of all the warlords on Tsoss Station, but were forced to poison them all when they failed to cooperate. Pellaeon became Daala's first officer, and was placed in command of the remaining seventeen Imperial-class Star Destroyers. He was to be the primary attack for that assaulted the Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. His attack was perfect, slipping into the system before the Jedi knew it. However, his Imperial conditioning failed to prepare him for the power of the Force. The Jedi, under the focus of Dorsk 81, used the Force to physically fling the entire Star Destroyer fleet out of the Yavin System, knocking out navigations and hyperdrives. Pelleaon was able to recover all his ships, as well as Admiral Daala's escape pod, before leaving to the system. After Daala's rescue, she resigned her command, and turned control of the Imperial fleet over to him. While he stll had no desire to rule the Empire, Pellaeon felt that the situation was the Battle of Endor all over again. He took the fleet back to the Core Systems to regroup. Pellaeon assumed the position of Supreme Commander of the Imperial Navy, and worked against all odds to rebuild the fleet. He spent several years trying to overcome the problems with the cloaking device, and eventually tested the Computer Combat Predictor. However, its inability to truly aid in a cloaked fight was the last straw in the back of the dwindling Imperial animal. He suggested to Moff Disra that the Imperial remnants should negotiate a surrender with the New Republic some ten years after Thrawn's death, hoping to obtain amnesty rather than execution. Although the majority of the Moffs were in agreement with the plan, Disra's own machinations kept him from wholeheartedly agreeing. Pellaeon began his attempts to contact the Republic by sending Colonel Vermel to meet with Garm Bel Iblis, but Disra captured Vermel before his message was fully delivered. Pellaeon, meanwhile, waited for Bel Iblis as Pesitiin, where Disra sent Zothip and the Cavrilhu Pirates to ambush him. Pellaeon's forces dispatched the pirates, but continued to wait for Bel Iblis. However, Bel Iblis was on a mission to Yaga Minor, so it was Ghent who actually received the truncated message from Vermel. He brought the message to Leia Organa-Solo, who agreed to meet with Pellaeon. Their initial talks were tentative but promising, and both agreed to return to their sides and meet at a later date. Meantime, Pellaeon and Commander Dreyf discovered Disra's plans, and began to press the matter with the Moff. Pellaeon eventually won out over the renegade Moff Disra, and soon signed a peace treaty - later known as the Pellaeon-Gavrisom Treaty - with the New Republic. He assumed command of what became known as the Imperial Remnant, and maintained a distanced relationship with the Republic until the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy. Then, Pellaeon agreed to help the war effort during the Battle of Ithor, only to be recalled to Imperial space by the short-sightedness of the Moff Council. Pellaeon feared that the Moffs' decision to stay out of the fight - so long as the Yuuzhan Vong avoided the Empire - was the wrong thing to do, but his half-century of experience made him hold his tongue for several years. He worked hard to bolster the forces protecting Bastion, but the Imperials were no match for the surprise attack launched by the Yuuzhan Vong shortly after the Second Battle of Coruscant. Bastion and Muunilinst were lost almost immediately, and the destruction would have been worse if Luke Skywalker hadn't arrived on the scene. Pellaeon gladly accepted the help of the Jedi, who were searching for the planet Zonama Sekot, and was able to hold off the alien invaders long enough to evacuate the central Imperial systems. However, the Chimaera took heavy damage, and Pellaeon himself was nearly killed. Only the skilled work of the Jedi healer Tekli kept him alive. Once the Imperial Remnant regrouped at Yaga Minor, Pellaeon started his own recovery, and began training his forces with tactics developed by the newly-formed Galactic Alliance. Despite the fact that he was confined to a bacta tank, Pellaeon was also instrumental in helping Jacen Solo convince the Moff Council that it needed to adopt the Galactic Alliance's tactics in order to ensure the very survival of the Empire. When he was able to emerge from the bacta tank, Pellaeon once again took command of the Imperial Navy, and threatened to secede from the Empire if the Moffs didn't accept Jacen's offer to join the Galactic Alliance. Once the Moffs agreed, Pellaeon took the Imperial fleet and began to harass the retreating Yuuzhan Vong forces, hoping to defend the Imperial Remnant by joining the war effort to defeat the alien invaders throughout the galaxy. As the battle neared its conclusion, Pellaeon was appointed the commander of the Galactic Alliance's Fourth Fleet, and was instrumental in the final battle against the Yuuzhan Vong near Coruscant. In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong surrender, Pellaeon prepared to return to the Imperial Remnant as its primary liaison to the Galactic Republic. Before he left, however, he found time to return the moss painting Killik Twilight to Leia Organa Solo. In the wake of the death of Admiral Sien Sovv, Pellaeon agreed to serve as the Supreme Commander of the Galactic Alliance's military, until a more permanent replacement could be named. Petition of the Two Thousand
this was the unofficial name used the Senators of the Old Republic to describe a petition started by Bail Organa and Mon Mothma to overturn some - if not all - of the emergency powers that had been granted to Chancellor Palpatine during the Clone Wars. The Senators who signed the petition - who included the original draftees Padme' Amidala, Fang Zar, Bam Breemu, Giddean Danu, and Chi Eekway - started the petition in an effort to restore democracy in the Republic without starting another war of separation. The goal of the petition was to make Palpatine realize that the need for emergency powers and extended control of the galaxy was no longer necessary. Initially, it was decided that the Jedi Order would not be consulted about the petition, because many signatory Senators were unsure of the true position of the Jedi. Although Palpatine agreed to hear the petition, he twisted its intentions when discussing it later with Anakin Skywalker. Palpatine told Anakin that the petition was not a call for a return to normalcy in the Republic, but the opening salvo in a Jedi-led plot to overthrow the Chancellor's office and place control of the galaxy in the hands of the Jedi Council. According to Palpatine, the Delegation of the Two Thousand that drafted and signed the petition was under the control of the Jedi Council's powers of persuasion. The Petition later became the basis upon which Palpatine began his purge of the Senate, since he knew that most every Senator in the Delegation of the Two Thousand had opposed his control of the galaxy. Plo, Lomi
this dark-skinned woman was once a student at the Shadow Academy. During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Lomi Plo and Welk were captured by the alien invaders and held aboard the Baanu Rass, as part of the group of Force-sensitive individuals used in the creation and breeding of the voxyn. Both Welk and Lomi Plo agreed to help the Jedi infiltrate the worldship and destroy the voxyn, despite the misgivings of Zekk and several other Jedi about their loyalties. However, as the strike force neared the voxyn queen, the Dark Jedi abandoned the Jedi in order to save their own skins. They fled in the ship Tachyon Flier, abandoning Lowbacca but unaware that Raynar Thul was still on board. The young Jedi Knight and his captives didn't escape, and were shot down by Yuuzhan Vong warships. Although they were believed to have died, Welk and Lomi Plo managed to survive the crash-landing of their ship in the Unknown Regions. They were accepted by a small part of the Yoggoy hive, and eventually created the Gorog hive. Lomi Plo herself became known among the Gorog as the Night Herald, and became something of the queen of the Dark Nest. Her incredible connection to the Dark Side of the Force allowed her to completely mask her activities and those of the Gorog, even from Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. In the year following the Qoribu Crisis, Lomi Plo remained out of sight, directing the Gorog and planting various alternate truths in the collective mind of the Colony in an effort to cover her tracks. In this way, Lomi Plo and the Gorog began to slowly disrupt the efforts of the Galactic Alliance, undermining every attempt to create a galactic peace in order to divide the Alliance and conquer the galaxy. Lomi Plo had also discovered that, by sowing distrust among the Jedi Knights, she could literally hide behind - or within - that doubt, thereby hiding her activities from even the most powerful of Jedi. Lomi Plo had Alema Rar deliver contradictory messages to Luke Skywalker about his wife's involvement with Daxar Ies, thereby giving her an opportunity to cloud Master Skywalker's mind without being discovered. During the Gorog hive's attempt to escape the Utegetu Nebula, Lomi Plo found herself confronted by Master Skywalker, who had discovered her ability to hide behind doubt and had managed to cast his own fears aside. Their one-on-one combat nearly resulted in Skywalker's death, until Mara Jade Skywalker managed to break Lomi Plo's hold on Luke by literally scraping the Dark Jedi off him with her X-Wing. Luke's fading vision recalled that Lomi Plo's face had been badly burned and scarred, and he remembered that her eyes had been replaced with Killik implants. In the wake of the battle, it was unclear whether Lomi Plo had escaped, or if she had been killed. (SBS, NJOSB, DN1, DN2)

Rago Run
this was one of the many hyperspace travel routes that were formed during the years following the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, linking the Outer Rim with the planet Rago in the Unknown Regions. The Galactic Alliance traced the presence of black membrosia to the Rago Run, but was unable to determine exactly which planet was the source. (DN1, DN2)

Rikknit
this multilegged crustacean was native to the hiakk tree canopies of the planet New Plympto. Similar in appearance to a crablike spider, the rikknit was noted for its eggs, which were a vital ingredient in many intoxicants. Individual rikknits create large webs, which trapped the birds and insects that made up the rikknit's diet. During the years leading up to the Battle of Naboo, Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum tried to make the rikknit a protected species, hoping to stop the flow of ji rikknit and other drugs from New Plympto. When the Old Republic passed legislation that banned the sale of rikknit eggs, the economy of New Plympto wsa thrown into shambles. The Nosaurians believed that they had been promised trade concessions, only to find themselves unable to sell their eggs. Shortly afterward, the Separatists arrived on New Plympto and offered to buy the rikknit eggs, as well as offering the Nosaurians membership in the Confederacy of Independent Systems. (CCW, RIU)

Roche Asteroid Field
this area of the galaxy contained what was believed to have been the remnants of the homeworld of the Verpine race, although many xenoarchaeologists claimed it was simply colonized by the Verpine nearly two hundred years before the formation of the Old Republic, The asteroid field itself was located near Barab I and Kubindi, and was a breeding site for mynocks and space slugs. The Roche Asteroid Field was a collection of asteroid belts orbiting a small yellow sun. The native Verpine made their homes within the asteroids, carving out living areas, hangars, and factories from the rock. During the months following the Qoribu Crisis, much of the economy and industry of the Roche Asteroid Field was brought to a standstill when the Verpine became increasingly dependent upon black membrosia. The inebriated Verpine were unable to perform their duties, and many simply failed to show up for work. (DFR, DA, SFS, GG4, DN2)

Roron Corobb
this Ithorian Jedi Master was once the Padawan of Yarael Poof, who helped develop Corobb's already strong mental skills. His unusual, stereosonic voice, coupled with his strong connection to the Force, gave Master Corobb incredibly powers of persuasion, especially against the weak-minded. He could also use the Force to literally throw his voice, creating a form of sonic assault on an unsuspecting foe. Master Corobb agreed to take on the rank of General during the Clone Wars, commanding a group of clone troopers in battle while also trying to train his young Padawan, Drake Lo'gaan. Master Corobb was part of the task force that was dispatched to protect Chancellor Palpatine when General Grievous launched his attack on Coruscant. Unfortunately, Grievous was able to kill both Master Corobb and Master Foul Moudama before taking Palpatine hostage. This character was named in honor of Ron Cobb, who created the original designs used for the Ithorian alien in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. (SWDB, ROF)

Rystall Sant
this humanoid female was one of Jabba the Hutt's favorite dancers, during the last years of the Galactic Civil War. Originally born on the planet New Bornalex, Rystall and her human mother, Cyl Sant, moved to Coruscant several years before the Clone Wars, in hopes of finding a better life. Unfortunately, Coruscant provided nothing better, and Rystall was abandoned by her mother, who hoped that she would be adopted by wealthier parents. Sadly, this was not to be, and Rystall was raised by Ortolan parents who were musicians. Rystall was easily distinguished by her flowing red hair and spotted skin. Her face had a unique structure in that it flowed from her nose and cheeks to her ears in a fan-like spread. Her feet were elephantine, being thick stumps with several thick nails. Although her mother was a human, Rystall never knew her father's origins. Note that the official Star Wars website indicates that Rystall's father was human while her mother was an alien. Living in the underworld of Coruscant, Rystall was eventually caught in the web of Black Sun after being approached by one of Xizor's vigos who offered her a deal: join him in one of his vacation houses, and he would provide a better life for her adopted family. Rystall agreed, hoping to provide more for her Ortolan family. However, the vigo locked her in a cell and forced her to dance for him, claiming that he would kill her family if she refused. The vigo captured her family and used them as slaves for over two years before the vigo hosted a sabacc tournament. Lando Calrissian took part in the games, and took a liking to Rystall. He eventually won the freedom of Rystall and her family, and they all fled Coruscant before the vigo could have them killed. Rystall and her family drifted to Tatooine, where her parents met an old friend, Max Rebo. The Ortolan band leader asked Rystall to join his band as a dancer, and she heartily agreed. After Jabba's death, Rystall was given the opportunity to join a band known as the Palpatones. In addition to incredible notoriety for her musical ability, her tenure with the Palpatones also brought her to Nar Shaddaa. There, she met Shug Ninx, and discovered that her father must have been among the last of the Theelin race. She left the Palpatones and set out to locate information on who her father was. Saesee Tiin
this Iktotchi Jedi Master was born on the moon of Iktotch, where he learned to fly a variety of starships. Over time, after discovering his ability with the Force and being trained as a Jedi under the tutelage of Master Omo Bouri, Tiin could instinctively fly virtually any craft. He was known in the Old Republic military as an excellent dogfighter, but was also something of a loner who preferred solitary contemplation over crowded meetings. Saesee Tiin was also one of the few Jedi Masters who never took a Padawan to train. Saesee Tiin served on the Jedi Council at the time when Qui-Gon Jinn petitioned to have Anakin Skywalker trained as a Jedi, and was known on the Coucil for his foresight and his ability to foresee the future. After the Battle of Naboo, Master Tiin was able to recover Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator from Naboo, and spent many hours examining its unusual systems. During the height of the Clone Wars, it was Master Tiin who encouraged Anakin to continue the development of a personalized Delta-7 Aethersprite fighter, despite Obi-Wan Kenobi's concern that Anakin viewed the ship as a possession. Master Tiin, however, was hoping that Anakin's innate ability to repair, modify, and improve technology would result in new improvements to the Delta-7 that might give the Jedi an edge in the battle. As the fighting ground on, Master Tiin was appointed the primary liaison between the Jedi Council and the Freedom's Sons organization. Tiin was paired with Anakin Skywalker again near the end of the Clone Wars, when they accompanied Plo Koon to Rendili to ensure that the planet's fleet of Dreadnaughts was not turned over to the Separatists. Their orders to secure the fleet or destroy it, a stance that led the crew of the Mersel Kebir to mutiny and attempt to remain at Rendili. When Master Koon was taken hostage, Master Tiin was forced to act to destroy the fleet. Anakin then proposed a desparate plan to disable the Dreadnaughts without bloodshed, and Master Tiin was unsure how to proceed. The appearance of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Quinlan Vos allowed him to give Anakin his chance. Young Skywalker's plan succeeded, and the Jedi were able to put an end to the siege over Rendili. As the Clone Wars began to wind down after the First Battle of Coruscant, Master Tiin was among the group of Jedi Masters who accompanied Mace Windu to arrest Chancellor Palpatine, after it was learned that he had finally been revealed as Darth Sidious. However, the Jedi were unprepared for Palpatine's powers, and Saesee Tiin was quickly beheaded during the fighting, leaving Mace Windu to face Palpatine alone. (SW1, IG1, OWS, SWDB, RDR, IS3, E3N)

Saras
this was one of the many hives that made up the Colony. Like all other hives within the Colony, the members of the Saras hive referred to themselves, as well as the entire nest, as Saras, and acted upon the Will of the Saras hive. The Saras established their nest on the moon Ruu, but were later relocated to Woteba after thye Qoribu crisis was resolved. Despite being part of the Colony, the Saras nest was notable for its artistic skill, as evidenced by the hive's ability to create wonderful artwork from spinglass and other materials. (DN1, DN2)

Sarge
this clone commando, officially designated RC-1013, was one of several heroes of the Old Republic's early victories during the Clone Wars. (CWA3, OWS)

Scarab-class Fighter
this flat-bodied starfighter design was produced for use by the Trade Federation during the years leading up to the Battle of Naboo. The design featured two outrigger-like wings, each connected to the fuselage by a pair of heavy struts. (STF, JSF)

Scorch
this clone commando, designated RC-1262, was among the first members of the original Delta Squad. Scorch was known as a competant soldier and a demolitions expert, and his ability to overstate the obvious irony of a situation made him the squad's resident wiseacre. He earned his nickname when an ordnance accident burned off his eyebrows. Like most of his fellow clones, Scorch saw action during the Battle of Geonosis. (LAWS, OWS)

Seek
a native of the planet Tatooine, Seek was one of young slaves who grew up in Mos Espa during the years prior to the Battle of Naboo. A year older than Anakin Skywalker, Seek was a bully and something of a pessimist, and believed that Anakin would never get his homemade podrace to fly. (SW1, IS1, SWDB)

Shan, Deena
this young woman joined the Alliance shortly after the Battle of Yavin, choosing a life of possible adventure over motherhood or a boring job. She was based on Etti IV, working aboard the Kalla's Stanchion as a supplies and requisitions agent. She had hoped to meet Han Solo, but was frustrated by his growing attraction to Leia Organa. She found herself flying aboard the Millennium Falcon when the Kalla's Stanchion was attacked by Imperial forces, and Han was forced to transport Leia to a meeting on Aguarl III. Their first jump into hyperspace went as planned, taking them to a remote corner of the galaxy. However, a distress call forced them to break off the rest of the jump. They found the remains of a ship that crashed on an uncharted planet, but the crew had been consumed by the native wildlife. Han and Chewbacca almost met the same fate, but Leia and Deena managed to reach them in time to blast them free. It was in the quiet time following the battle that Deena realized she had joined the Alliance for the wrong reasons. Instead of searching for her own future, Deena resolved to work harder at ensuring a better future for the rest of the galaxy. She was part of the "command crew" that was assigned to pose as Imperial officers aboard the Nuna's Twins during the Alliance's attempt to infiltrate the labor colony on Kalist VI. Shan pretended to be a science officer, assigned to the Nuna's Twins to investigate fuel consumption at various Imperial outposts. Her backstory, as well as her good looks, caught the attention of Imperial Captain Roshuir, who agreed to work with her to locate the Alliance forces that abmushed the Nuna's Twins. (SWEAT, SWEWW)

Shatter Gun
developed by the Verpine, this weapon was a delicate pistol that fired magnetically-accelerated particles or pellets of alloy. The shotgun effect was devastating, but the shatter gun was prone to breakdown or explosion if improperly handled or dropped. (GFT, RCHC, DN2)

Shessaun, Silya
this blonde-haired woman served as a Senator, representing her homeworld and the Thesme Sector in the Galactic Senate during the height of the Clone Wars. (OWS, SWDB)

Sien Sovv
this Sullustan Admiral was the backbone of the New Republic Defense Force, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. In the wake of the debacle at the Battle of Fondor, Sien Sovv barely overcame a vote of no confidence within the New Republic Senate. He happened to be leading a small fleet of warships in the vicinity of Reecee when Han Solo discovered Yuuzhan Vong forces massing near the Black Bantha. Sovv was forced to engage the Yuuzhan Vong, in an effort to disrupt their plans to attack Coruscant. His fleet was woefully small, and only delayed the second wave of ships which eventually attacked Coruscant. In the wake of the Second Battle of Coruscant, Admiral Sien Sovv was the highest ranking officer in the Navy, and was designated by Senator Pwoe as the Supreme Commander of the remaining New Republic armed forces. Unfortunately, this rank stood even after Pwoe was ostracized on Kuat, and Admiral Sovv was forced to take the brunt of the criticism when New Republic forces were soundly defeated in many battles against the alien invaders. After the Yuuzhan Vong surrendered to the Galactic Alliance at Coruscant some five years after the start of their invasion, Admiral Sovv unexpectedly decided to retire. He was succeeded by Traest Kre'fey, but remained attached to the military until his untimely death about six years later. He was killed when the Vratix pilots of a freighter got inebriated on black membrosia and collided with Admiral Sovv's vessel. Although many other beings died in the collision, the presence of Admiral Sovv in the area led many beings to speculate that the collision was not an accident, but a heartless assassination attempt. The Galactic Alliance's Chief of State, Cal Omas, intimated this during his short speech at Admiral Sovv's funeral, vowing to bring those responsible to justice. Omas went so far as to implicate the Colony in Sovv's assassination, although he lacked any evidence beyond the presence of black membrosia that linked the Killiks to the collision. Sise Fromm
a member of the Ret, or Annoo-dat Blue race, Sise Fromm was a powerful crime boss from the planet Annoo during the early years of the New Order. He controlled most of the planet by fear, having sent the Trigon One weapons satellite into orbit around the planet. He wanted Thall Joben and his friends killed for angering him, and so he employed Boba Fett to kill them in the speeder races on Boonta. Fromm, covering all his bases, also planted a bomb on Joben's speeder. When Fett tried to kill Joben during the races, he activated a magnet in order to draw Joben nearer. However, the magnet dislodged Fromm's bomb, and Fett was nearly destroyed. In his anger, Fett captured Sise Fromm and his entire gang, and turned them over to Jabba the Hutt. (DCAR, DM111)

Skywalker, Ben
this was the name given to the infant son of Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, born shortly after the Battle of Duro. Ben was born aboard the converted Star Destroyer Errant Venture, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. He was separated from his parents shortly afterward, both to protect him and allow them to fight against the alien invaders. Ben was taken in by his aunt and uncle, Leia Organa Solo and her husband, Han, and brought up on Coruscant. When the Yuuzhan Vong launched their attack on Coruscant, Ben was in Leia's custody as the Solo family made its way to the Millennium Falcon. However, the intervention of Viqi Shesh forced Leia to turn Ben over to C-3PO, who was whisked aboard the Byrt instead of remaining with the Solos. Ben was then kept in several secure locations for the rest of the war against the Yuuzhan Vong, and Mara feared that this period of separation from his parents led to severe anxiety in young Ben. She found it increasingly difficult to locate him through the Force, and both Mara and Luke realized that Ben had started equating the use of the Force to the warfare and bloodshed of the conflict. Thus, despite having an exceptionally strong connection to the Force, Ben unconsciously shut it off. He didn't want to touch the Force, for fear that it might bring more bad things into his life. With the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong, Luke and Mara resolved to spend more time with Ben, but the rigors of leading the new Jedi order continued to keep them apart. Luke and Mara acquired a Defender Droid to keep watch over Ben, but he found Nanna's presence infuriating. In several conversations, Ben admitted that he wanted to be more like his uncle, Han Solo: working on his own and doing things the hard way. During the initial stages of the conflict with the Colony, Ben unknowingly befriended the first assassin bugs of the Gorog hive, unaware that he was putting his mother in danger. His relationship with the assassin bugs gave him a connection to the Gorog hive, although he was not considered as fully immersed as a true Joiner. It was during this time that Luke and Mara discovered that Ben opened up more whenever he was around his cousin, Jacen Solo, and asked Jacen to take Ben under his wing. Jacen agreed, but was careful not to call Ben an apprentice, since the youth continued to ignore the callings of the Force. However, over time, Ben began to tentatively touch the Force, and his connection was strengthened with Jacen's help. However, the raw power that was within Ben often bubbled to the surface, as when Jacen traveled to Hapes to see Tenel Ka. They found themselves in the midst of a Gorog assassination attempt on the lifes of Tenel Ka's infant daughter - of which Jacen was the father. His connection to the Gorog became evident when he was able to accurately locate the killer bugs in the ceiling and hidden escape tunnels, which helped them escape from the Gorog and confront Ta'a Chume. Sligh
this Squib was part of a trio who worked behind the scenes, gathering information about the shadier parts of the galaxy and providing it to the New Republic Intelligence agency. They worked from a base on Tatooine, and were known to have extensive knowledge of the planet's deserts. Sligh accompanied Leia Organa Solo and her husband, Han Solo, to Tatooine, as part of a mission to intercept a group of Imperial agents. Sligh worked with his partners, Grees and Emala, to complete their non-human entourage. When the bidding began on a holocube image of nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker, taken when he won the Boonta Eve Classic podracer just prior to the Battle of Naboo, Han instructed Sligh to bid on it for Leia. However, Sligh got carried away with the bidding and had to be physically restrained by Han. After Tatooine, the Squibs decided that selling art to the Imperials was not only profitable, but an excellent way to obtain more information about Imperial activities. They also aligned themselves with the Invisible Shell to help further their efforts in obtaining rare artwork. They made no effort to correct the NRI's assumption that it was Ludlo Lebauer providing the artworks to the Empire, since it ensured they could continue their efforts without being identified. Unfortunately, Grees had gotten too greedy and was captured by Ludlo Lebauer and frozen in carbonite, after a deal had gone bad between them. Emala and Sligh were forced to manipulate the Solos into helping rescue Grees, who had become known as the Second Mistake to Lebauer. Using their NRI contacts, the Squibs met up with the Solos on Pavo Prime and convinced them to recover the Second Mistake in addition to the ten Alderaanian boasas which were the real object of the Solos' mission. In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion and the subsequent galactic reconstruction, the three Squibs established a transport operation known as Second Mistake Enterprises, and were hired by the Colony to transport spinglass sculptures to the rest of the galaxy. The Squibs were unaware that each sculpture contained a handful of Gorog assassin bugs. (TG, SWI67, DN2)

Sol Sixxa
this hulking Mere was the leader of the Mere Resistance, a group of freedom fighters who tried to overthrow the Trade Federation's control of the planet Maramere, some six years after the Battle of Naboo. Sixxa recovered an experimental cloaking device from the Syren after killing Lord Toat, and used it aboard his own pirate ship, the Revenant. He then cultivated the idea that he was a ghost, and that the Revenant could appear and disappear at will. The leaders of the Mere feared that Sol Sixxa might turn on the native population, should he ever defeat the Federation, and so they sent Loreli Ro to hire the Feeorin mercenary Nym to defeat him. Nym agreed, but found that he and Sixxa had a common bond: to overthrow the Trade Federation. After defeating the forces of Ruuk, Sol Sixxa played dead for several weeks before contacting Nym. However, rather than kill Sixxa, Nym offered him the chance to join the Lok Revenants and fight the Trade Federation together. Sol Sixxa chose to serve with Nym, and the two fought together to overthrow the Federation. (CRBN, JSF)

Sol, Jorin
this Alliance statistician accompanied Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker to Jabiim, some seven months after the Battle of Yavin, in an effort to assess the relative strength of the Loyalist forces. Along with Leia and Nera Dantels, Sol was held prisoner by the Jabiimites after it was learned that Luke was the son of Anakin Skywalker. He was later taken into custody by Darth Vader himself, who managed to extract from Jorin the mathematical algorithms used to plan the Alliance's escape from the Yavin System. (SWESF, SWEMO)

Solo, Jacen
Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo's first son, Jacen was born five minutes after his sister, Jaina. The twins were born on Coruscant some five years after the Battle of Endor, in the midst of Grand Admiral Thrawn's attempt to take control of the galaxy. He was very strong with the Force, and had the special ability to communicate with animals. When he and his sister turned 14, they were allowed to attend Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. While there, Jacen developed an extensive collection of the jungle moon's exotic fauna, many of which escaped the cages built for them by Jaina. When he finally constructed his own lightsaber, Jacen chose focusing stones which produced a glowing, emerald green blade. He later trained directly with Luke himself, as Luke began moving the new Jedi Knights back to the pre-Empire style of teaching. Luke also trained Jacen's brother, Anakin, although both brothers had different ideas on what the future of the Jedi should be. Jacen agreed with Luke, that the formation of a new Jedi Council would help bring the vigilantes under control. Jacen also believed more in the spiritual aspects of the Force, while Anakin held to the physical uses of the Force. They fought often, verbally and with lightsabers, both claiming their intense sessions were simply training. He traveled with his younger brother, Anakin, to Centerpoint Station, just before the Battle of Fondor, but urged Anakin not to use the Force to fire it. When Thrackan Sal-Solo fired it instead, and nearly destroyed the combined Republic and Hapan fleets, Jacen felt himself lost in his struggle to understand the Force. After having an intense vision of the galaxy, teetering on a single balance point that he alone controlled, Jacen tried to stop using the Force altogether. His family tried to bring him out of this mental state, but Jacen doggedly refused. However, when his mother was threated by the Yuuzhan Vong on Duro, Jacen realized that he had reached the balance point in his vision. Drawing on the Force, he managed to escape with his mother and get her to safety. During the escape, Jacen badly injured the Yuuzhan Vong Warmaster, Tsavong Lah, earning him a position of hatred among the alien invaders. When the Yuuzhan Vong learned that Jacen and Jaina were twins - an event which was rare in Yuuzhan Vong births, and indicated an omen from the gods - both siblings were targeted for capture and eventual sacrifice. Shortly afterward, Jacen and his siblings joined the Jedi strike team which was sent ot Myrkr to locate and destroy the voxyn queen. When Anakin was killed aboard the Baanu Rass, Jacen found that his sister blamed him for Anakin's death, despite the fact that Anakin gave specific orders to reach the queen. Eventually, the Jedi were able to defeat the voxyn queen, but Jacen was captured when Vergere betrayed him to the Yuuzhan Vong. Despite her changing allegiance, Vergere provided Jacen with several of her healing "tears," to help prepare him for the torture he was about to receive after his capture. The rest of the strike team fled, vowing to rescue Jacen at the soonest possible moment. However, once in the Hapes Cluster aboard the Trickster, Jaina and the others received a wave of anguish through the Force that seemed to indicate Jacen's death. Jacen, however, had been taken aboard a Yuuzhan Vong seedship and secured in a modified Embrace of Pain by Vergere, as part of something known as the Solo Project. Vergere and Nom Anor hoped to turn him to the Yuuzhan Vong's True Way, and he was held in the Embrace of Pain for many months. Vergere, in an effort to eliminate his reliance on the Force, took away his link to the Force and forced him to recognize other ways of tapping into its energy. This was the "death" Jaina and other Jedi felt. Jacen began to understand the pain could eventually be overcome and used to his advantage, and that the Force was not simply black and white. Vergere's lessons taught him that the Yuuzhan Vong existed in another facet of the Force's energy, and that there were more grey areas than Jacen had ever believed possible. Upon his release from the Embrace of Pain, Jacen discovered he was aboard a seedship, where he was bound as a slave to an immature dhuryam. Jacen developed a relationship with the future World Brain, and eventually discovered that he could tap resources within the Force that he never knew existed. When the tizo'pil Yun'tchilat occurred, Jacen chose his time to strike at his captors. Never truly turned to the True Way, Jacen tried to destroy the World Brains before one could be inserted into Coruscant's new environment. Vergere interferred, playing on his emotions to stop Jacen from killing the dhuryam which had become his "friend". Jacen awoke to find himself on Coruscant, now renamed Yuuzhan'tar in honor of the original Yuuzhan Vong homeworld, along with Vergere. They were hunted by the warriors assigned to Master Shaper Ch'Gang Hool, and forced to accept the Ture Way. He then put into motion his next plant, tocapture Ganner Rhysode. Ganner had been searching for Jacen, who lured him into the chamber of a camp ship and captured him. Once on Coruscant, Jacen subtly explained that he was worked with the Yuuzhan Vong in order to gain their confidence. Them he planned to use the World Brain to act as his agent on Coruscant. Ganner gave his life to keep Jacen alive long enough to gain access to the World Brain, which had been the dhuyram he befriended. Jacen asked the World Brain to help him monitor the situation on Coruscant, then he fled the planet with Vergere. Jacen later returned to Master Skywalker, who accepted his return and allowed him to return to work with the Jedi Knights. He tried to listen to Vergere's words and advice on the nature of his destiny within the Force, but when his sister Jaina was in danger during the Battle of Ebaq, Jacen blindly raced to her rescue. He was trapped by Yuuzhan Vong in the mines of Ebaq 9, and only Vergere's sacrifice allowed him to survive. He eventually reached Jaina, where they were attacked by Tsavong Lah. Jaina managed to defeat the Warmaster in combat, and the twins were rescued by New Republic forces. Jacen then commited himself to reconciling the Yuuzhan Vong with his definition of the Force, and vowed to honor Vergere's memory by working to fulfill his destiny. As part of this personal mission, Jacen agreed to accompany his Uncle Luke and Aunt Mara on a mission into the Unknown Regions, in a search for the planet Zonama Sekot. He had learned of the planet from Vergere, and hoped that his connection to her would help their cause. Upon finding the planet in the Klasse Ephemora System, Sekot initially refused to help them. In a series of devious tests, the living part of the planet separated Jacen from Luke and tried to learn their true motives for coming to Zonama Sekot. Eventually, both Luke and Jacen convinced the planet they were seeking a peaceful end to the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong. Sekot then agreed to accompany them back to the galaxy, in an effort to find a way to end the war. Upon reverting to realspace near Coruscant, Jacen found himself once again in the company of his family. Han, Leia, and Jaina had been dispatched to meet them, and the family was briefly reunited before returning to the war. Jacen and his sister accompanied their uncle Luke to the surface of Coruscant, in an effort to gain access to the Citadel and bring Supreme Overlord Shimrra to justice. Jacen was able to reach the mind of the World Brain which was controlling the planet, and was able to calm it down and put a stop to the destruction it was causing on the surface. Upon entering Shimrra's throneroom, they were beset by a group of fifteen Slayers, and only Jacen's link to the World Brain allowed them any measure of success. When Jaina set out to capture Onimi, Jacen found himself facing the remaining Slayers, who had abandoned Luke so that Shimrra himself could destroy the Jedi Master. After Shimrra's defeat, Jacen left Luke in Mara's capable hands and set out to locate his sister, only to be assailed by Onimi. Jacen suddenly realized that Onimi was perhaps the most powerful of all Yuuzhan Vong, since he had managed to tap into the Force in a way that no other individual could. His own Shaping had somehow reconnected him to the Force, and gave him powerful abilities as a Shaper and as a fighter. Jacen was forced to fend off all manner of projectiles, then had to find a way to neutralize the poisons that Onimi created to kill him. Drawing on the power of the Force, Jacen understood that only a complete surrender to its energy would save. In this state, Jacen was able to fight off whatever Onimi threw at him, realizing that he had finally found the truth about the Force and the way in which a Jedi should connect to it. He became simply a living conduit for the power of the Force, embracing neither good nor evil but simply existing within it. In this manner, Jacen was able to eradicate the evil and greed within Onimi, killing the Shamed One in the process. With the Yuuzhan Vong surrender at Coruscant, the war was ended and the Galactic Alliance set out to restore as much of it as possible. Jacen decided to set out in search of other Force users - such as the Jensaarai, the Sunesi, and the Fallanassi - to deepen his already vast knowledge of the Unifying Force. This exploration allowed him to acknowledge the call of UnuThul but resist becoming a Joiner, when the Colony began its expansion in the Unknown Regions. He remained neutral in the growing conflict, hoping that the Force would guide him to a resolution. However, he experienced a terrible vision of the galaxy in flames, which left him without any clear path. Added to his confusion was the revelation that an evening spent with Tenel Ka at the start of the Qoribu Crisis had produced a daughter, which Jacen discovered about a year later. While trying to piece all of this together, Jacen realized that the Force was calling on him to save his daughter - and the rest of the galaxy - from destruction at the hands of the Killiks. He then turned his efforts to eradicating the Dark Nest before it could launch the war he had seen in his vision. He agreed to accompany Jaina on a mission to disable Supply Depot Thrago, in an effort to provoke the Chiss into attacking the Colony, knowing that the Chiss had built up enough military power to defeat the Killiks. All the Chiss needed was an excuse to launch their attack. Jaina and Jacen were able to gather several Jedi together to launch the mission, but Jaina recoiled when she discovered that Jacen was also planning to exterminate the Colony to avoid seeing his vision come true. Solo, Jaina
Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo's first child, Jaina was born on Coruscant some five years after the Battle of Endor. She was five minutes older than her twin brother, Jacen, and was equally strong with the Force. She had certain mechanical abilities, much like her father, but not as strong as her brother, Anakin. When she and Jacen attended Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, at the age of 14, she collected all sorts of old technology from the original Alliance base, using some of it to create cages for Jacen's exotic collection of creatures. Others she kept to see if she can repair them. Jaina created a lightsaber of violet light while studying at Yavin 4. She later trained directly with Mara Jade, after Mara's marriage to Luke, when Luke began moving the new Jedi Knights back to the pre-Empire style of teaching. A real student of the Force, Jaina found it hard to be around her mother when she tried to use the Force. Jaina felt that Leia used her skills with the Force as a kind of toy, nothing really serious and often clumsy in operation. During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Jaina put her skills with the Force to work as a member of Rogue Squadron, flying an X-Wing into battle against the aliens. She survived a number of engagements, but was forced to eject from her fighter during the defense of Kalarba. She was caught in the explosion of the Champion, and suffered blinding damage to her eyes which left her with fuzzy vision for several weeks. She was shipped off to Duro, to make room for more desparate injuries, and helped her father in the evacuation of Settlement Thirty-two. Over time, her eyesight returned, and Jaina longed to get back into the cockpit. However, her status as a Jedi Knight forced Gavin Darklighter to place her on extended leave, in order to appease the politicians of the Senate. Jaina agreed to be part of the Jedi strike team which was dispatched to Myrkr to eliminate the voxyn queen, along with both of her brothers. She was unprepared for the losses the Jedi took just to infiltrate the Baanu Rass, and was was overcome when Anakin was killed aboard the worldship. She openly blamed Jacen for Anakin's death, claiming that Jacen left him to die. In her anger over the loss of Anakin and her blame of Jacen, Jaina turned to the Dark Side of the Force. She conjured up an intense storm of Force lightning when a Yuuzhan Vong nearly killed her, utterly destroying the alien attacker without remorse. After finally destroying the voxyn queen, the Jedi were forced to flee the worldship in order to return to Eclipse. Jacen, however, had been captured by the double-crossing Vergere, and Jaina was forced to leave him with the Yuuzhan Vong in order to save the rest of the team. She vowed to rescue her brother, despite her earlier animosity toward him. The Jedi stole the frigate Ksstarr, which Jaina later renamed the Trickster, and headed to Hapes. There, they hoped to learn as much as they could about the frigate and Yuuzhan Vong technology. However, Jaina became caught up in the political intrigue of Hapan life, and the former Queen Mother Ta'a Chume chose Jaina to server as her protégé. Jaina didn't fully realize her position, but used it to gain access to Sinsor Khal and the scientists on Gallinore, who created lab-grown version of Yuuzhan Vong yorik coral. As Jaina sank deeper into the plans of Ta'a Chume, her friends worried that she was slipping further toward the Dark Side of the Force, especially after she agreed to train under Kyp Durron. After the fall of Coruscant, Jaina was groomed by the Inner Circle on Borleias to become the incarnate version of Yun-Harla, in an effort to trick the Yuuzhan Vong. It was during this time that she also admitted her feelings for Jagged Fel. Jaina was also promoted to the rank of Major in the New Republic military for her work at Hapes and Borleias, then to Lieutenant Colonel following the Battle of Ebaq. She was given command of a full battle group during the defense of Esfandia when, as the ranking Jedi Knight, she was requested by Captain Todra Mayn to coordinate the combined forces of the Galactic Alliance and the Imperial Remnant. After the near defeat at Bilbringi, as part of Operation Trinity, Jaina was recalled to Mon Calamari. As the Galactic Alliance planned its final move in the ongoing war - a strike at Coruscant itself - Jaina was reunited with her parents. Together, they were dispatched to Coruscant ahead of the main fleet, when the living planet Zonama Sekot suddenly reappeared in orbit between Coruscant and Muscave. The Solo family was briefly reunited on Zonama Sekot before returning to the war. Jaina and her brother accompanied their uncle Luke to the surface of Coruscant, in an effort to gain access to the Citadel and bring Supreme Overlord Shimrra to justice. Following the will of the Force, Jaina left the main battle and set out to capture Onimi, who had fled the chamber. She failed to consider the Shamed One's ingenuity, and Onimi was able to subdue Jaina with ease when he used his fang to inject her with a mild toxin. He then dragged her into the command chamber of the Citadel's escape craft and set out to flee Coruscant. Jacen, however, pursued them through the Citadel and into the escape craft, confronting Onimi with the pure power of the Force. Jaina tried to lend her brother some help, but Jacen fought on his own, allowing Jaina to concentrate on healing herself. After the deaths of Onimi and Shimrra, the rest of the Yuuzhan Vong force at Coruscant surrendered to the Galactic Alliance, bringing the war to an end. Despite Jag's admission of his love for her, Jaina decided that it was not yet time for her to settle down. She told Jag that she had to ensure that the galaxy would be a better place for future generations, especially her own children. Jaina and Jag shared one final, passionate kiss before going their separate ways. Five years later, when UnuThul sent out his call for help, Jaina was among seven young Jedi who dropped whatever mission they were currently on and traveled to the Unknown Regions to answer the call. She joined the Colony and led much of the effort to defend the various hives from the Chiss, and was dismayed when UnuThul demanded that the Jedi leave the Colony before they were injured in the coming battle with the Chiss. Because of his joining with the Unu hive, Jaina found herself suddenly sharing emotions with Zekk, and the pair realized that there was a deep level of attraction between them. Although nothing came of their pairing following the Dance of Union, they discovered that their relationship had been moved to a much deeper level than ever before. They remained connected in ways that were both exciting and frightening, but neither Jaina nor Zekk tried to break it off. When the resolution of the Qoribu Crisis, Jaina and Zekk worked together on many missions to protect the Galactic Alliance, but Jaina found herself in a bad position after Jacen had a vision in which the galaxy was in flame because of the growth of the Gorog hive. She had convinced him to accompany her Jedi on a secret mission to attack Supply Depot Thrago, in an effort to make the Chiss think that the attack had come from the Gorog. Jaina and Zekk simply wanted to eliminate the Gorog without harming the rest of the Colony. Jacen, however, believed that the entire Colony had to be eliminated in order to avoid any future trouble. The knowledge of Jacen's plans hit Jaina like a blaster bolt, and although they completed the mission at Thrago, she vowed never to work him again. Solomahal
this Lutrillian was a veteran of the Old Republic military who retired from active duty following the Clone Wars. During the Clone Wars, Solomahal earned the rank of General, and was assigned as the commander of the Republic's secret base on Azure. He was credited with liberating the Wode from enslavement, as well as destroying the 2nd Regiment of the Sun Guard. He was also considered something of a hero for his part in the Battle of Azure Spaceport, after he destroyed Talesan Fry's codebreaker before it could fall into the hands of the Separatists. Although he was captured during the fighting, Solomahal escaped just a few days later and was given a new command. After the war, he continued to work as a scout, working in the Outer Rim Territories to avoid Imperial notice. Solomahal operated a YV-888 known as the QuadStar, and took on work whenever he could. However, as the galaxy plunged into the Galactic Civil War, Solomahal's reputation diminished greatly, and he was forced to move around the Greater Javin area in search of work. Among the jobs he took on was the transport of the Nothoiin refugee Covah to a remote location in the Greater Javin region of the galaxy. What many beings of the day didn't know - or didn't remember - was that Solomahal was actually a hero of the Clone Wars. After a while, Solomahal ended up on Tatooine, where he met up with the Brizzit known as Tzizvvt. Although Solomahal doubted Tzizvvt's claim to have been a professor of xenoarchaeology, he quickly recognized that the Brizzit had a knack for locating treasure. Solomahal agreed to fund a mission to locate the mysterious Eye of the Beyonder, in exchange for accompanying Tzizvvt on the mission. Just before the Battle of Yavin, the two set off to locate the relic and seek out the rumored treasure it pointed to. (CCG2, JKG, WOA34, SOJ, SWDB)

Sonta, Jodd
this was the alias adopted by Drake Lo'gaan when he infiltrated COMPNOR, just after the end of the Clone Wars. Drake' use of the alias was cut short when he discovered that Zonder was to be sent into slavery, with the possibility of being simply executed for being an alien, during the construction and maintenance of the Emerald Splendor Estates on Byss. Drake abandoned his COMPNOR posting and set out to find Ekria, in an effort to ensure Zonder regained his freedom. (EAR)

Sunber, Janek
this man was a native of a backwater world who made his own way through the Imperial Academy, relying on brains and physical skills - rather than a Core Worlds background or political maneuvering - to succeed. This meant that, after he proved to be an average pilot during his training, he was relegated to a career in the infantry. This didn't deter him in the least, however. Where other officers used their connections to earn promotions, Sunber earned promotions through hard work and diligence. He was one of a handful of officers who worked side-by-side with the troops under his command, which earned him the respect of his troops. Just after the Battle of Yavin, Lieutenant Sunber found himself stationed on Maridun with his commanding officers, Captain Gage and General Ziering. Although Ziering appreciated Sunber's opennes and candor, Gage and Commander Frickett thought him to be a pretensious poser whose only goal was to show up his immediate superiors. However, Sunber proved more than capable during an Amanin attack, and Ziering recognized that he was much more capable of commanding this forces that either Gage or Frickett. After Frickett's death and Gage's failure to estimate the enemy, Ziering promoted Sunber to Captain and placed him in charge of defending the survivors. His success at Maridun earned him command of the ground forces that were later dispatched to Jabiim, to assist with the subjugation of that planet. He found himself almost immediately short-handed, after the Navy's orbital bombardment killed just as many Imperials as it did rebels. Although the ground assault was finally successful, Sunber found himself questioning the continued need to destroy families in the name of the Empire. (SWELM, SWEWW)

Ta'a Chume
the Queen Mother of the Hapan worlds during the era of the New Order, she is a devious woman who gave birth to two sons. She would stop at nothing to see her elder son married to a powerful new queen, but he was a pacifist and - in her mind - a weakling. So, she had him assassinated in order to elevate her younger son, Isolder, to the position of heir. When Isolder fell in love with Elliar, Ta'a Chume disagreed with his selection. She also had Elliar murdered, and pushed Isolder to marry a more fitting wife. Ta'a Chume also had a dislike for the Jedi Knights, and when she meets Luke Skywalker, the dislike only increases when Luke bests her in gaining information on Han Solo's whereabouts. She allowed the Old Republic some measure of respect, but when it crumbled and the Empire took over, she became a brutal leader, firming up the Hapan armed forces to keep the Imperials at bay. The Hapan worlds have since enjoyed a measure of prosperity, and Ta'a has been reduced to keeping the various factions from killing each other's heirs in attempts to gain the throne. She pretended to agree to her son Isolder's proposed marriage to Princess Leia, but she was secretly against it, feeling that Leia would bring nothing but the downfall of the Hapan government. She arranged for an assassination attempt on Leia's life, but it failed. Isolder, upon hearing of this, also accused her of killing his former betrothed, Elliar, and his older brother. Ta'a Chume eventually backed off, and let Isolder marry the Dathomirian "princess" Teneniel Djo. When Tenel Ka was born, Ta'a Chume began doting on the child, in hopes that she could twist the child into a "proper" Hapes Queen. In this effort, however, she failed, and Tenel Ka became a full Jedi. Ta'a Chume, it was later revealed, had something to do with the attempt by a group of Bartokk assassins to kill Tenel Ka, and she was forced to step down as Queen Mother and relinquish the throne to Teneniel Djo. Her abdication, though final, did not prevent her from keeping a hand in the dealings of the royal family. After the Yuuzhan Vong invaded the galaxy, and after the destruction of a portion of the Consortium Navy at the Battle of Fondor, Ta'a Chume even condoned several assassination attempts on Isolder and Teneniel Djo. However, the opening of Hapes to war refugees was too much for her to take. With the help of her aide Trisdin, Ta'a Chume began searching for a young woman to replace Teneniel Djo - a young woman she could mold in her own image. Her first attempt to locate such a woman focused on Jaina Solo, shortly after the Jedi lost her brother Anakin to the Yuuzhan Vong. After arranging for the murder of her daugther-in-law, Ta'a Chume quickly ordered new leadership be instated for Hapes, blaming the murder on the Ni'Korish. Her plans failed when Tenel Ka agreed to take her mother's position, a right which was hers to exercise. Despite her position as former Queen Mother, Ta'a Chume was arrested and charged with the murder to Teneniel Djo. She remained in a minimum security environment for many years, and slowly grew more and more angry at the fact that her Jedi-trained grand-daughter, Tenel Ka, had assumed the throne of the Queen Mother. Ta'a Chume's frustration and unrest only increased when Tenel Ka refused to marry, and continued to involve the Hapes Cluster in the politics of the greater galaxy. In the wake of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, which cost many Hapan lives, Ta'a Chume began to hear whispers of Tenel Ka's growing relationship with Jacen Solo. After the Qoribu Crisis, it became obvious that Tenel Ka was pregnant, and Ta'a Chume began to plot a new pathway to power. She arranged a deal with the Gorog hive to have Tenel Ka's infant daughter killed, knowing that she could only retake the position of Queen Mother without a direct heir in the way. Her plans were spoiled when the baby's father, Jacen Solo, arrived on Hapes with Ben Skywalker. The two Jedi added their strength to Tenel Ka's, and defeated the insectile assassins. Jacen, angry at the attempt on his daughter's life, confronted Ta'a Chume and had her restrained. Ta'a Chume then revealed that it had been Gorog who had come to her first, claiming that it wanted revenge against Tenel Ka for sending of a Hapan fleet to Qoribu. She also explained that the Gorog were looking for navicomputers and hyperdrives in order to escape from the Utegetu Nebula. Jacen, satisfied with her answers but unwilling to let her remain free, sent a sharp spike of Force power into Ta'a Chume's brain, rendering her unable to produce a coherent thought. Taat
this was one of the many hives that made up the Colony. Like all other hives within the Colony, the members of the Taat hive referred to themselves, as well as the entire nest, as Taat, and acted upon the Will of the Taat hive. However, the Taat were notable among the fourteen or so hives of the Colony for its stoic approach to life. The Taat established their nest on the moon Jwlio. When the Colony's conflict with the Chiss was resolved, some five years after the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Taat was the first of the Qoribu hives to be relocated to another planet. The entire hive was moved aboard the Kendall and transported to a world within the Utegetu Nebula, that was deep in the Unknown Regions and well away from Chiss space. (DN1, DN2)

Tarfang
this vindictive Ewok served as Jae Juun's first mate aboard the XR808g and, later, the DR919a, during the years following the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. He opposed the notion that they should help Han Solo locate the nests of the Colony, and often swore a blue streak about it in Ewokese, if only to vent his frustration. Despite his vehemence, however, Tarfang was extrememly loyal to Jae Junn, and followed his every move with dedication and perseverence. When they were forced to confront the Gorog nest ship near the Tusken's Eye, about a year after the Qoribu Crisis, Tarfang found himself the prisoner of Lomi Plo. Luke Skywalker diverted the mission to destroy the Gorog ship's hyperdrive long enough to catch hold of the Ewok with the Force, then drew Tarfang back to safety. During their escape from the nest ship, Tarfang was able to locate the lost lightsaber of Mara Jade Skywalker, and used it with maniacal glee to cut his way to freedom. In the aftermath of the blockade, Jae Juun and Tarfang found themselves being approached by Admiral Nek Bwua'tu, who offered them positions as intelligence agents. Bwua'tu knew that their knowledge of the Colony, as well as their contacts at Second Mistake Enterprises, put them in a position to gather information about the Killiks. Jae Juun and Tarfang heartily agreed to the offer. (DN1, DN2)

Techno Union
this was one of the largest corporate conglomerates given a trade franchise during the last decades of the Old Republic. With a membership comprised of starship manufacturers, weapons and droid developers, and major technology suppliers, the Techno Union was established to ensure that fair commerce was maintained across the galaxy. Shipping concerns were later added to the roster of the Union, helping to ensure that supply lines and distribution channels remained open. Led by Wat Tambor, the Techno Union's members - which included such signatories as the Baktoid Armor Workshop, Haor Chall Engineering, Republic Sienar Systems, Kuat Systems Engineering, TaggeCo, BlasTech Industries, and the Corellian Engineering Corporation - produced some of the galaxy's most cutting-edge technologies during the years leading up to the Clone Wars. The Techno Union was also one of the loudest supporters of the Trade Federation, following on the Federation's coattails whenever legislation involving trade was mentioned in galactic politics. Using tactics developed by the Trade Federation, the Techno Union demanded the right to protect its various members from external attack, and was given license to develop a droid army to defend itself. This military might, coupled with the Techno Union's corporate signatories, made the Techno Union a true force to be reckoned with. The amassed army of the Techno Union was later added to the growing forces of Count Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems just before the Battle of Geonosis, when Wat Tambor agreed to join the Separatists in the fight against the oppression of the Old Republic. During the height of the Clone Wars, the Techno Union established a secret facility on the planet Nelvaan, where harnessed geothermal energy was used to power the facility. Nelvaanian males were genetically and surgically altered by Skakoan scientists to form a kind of armed slave. The facility was later destroyed by Anakin Skywalker, and the Techno Union representatives were summarily slaughered by the young Jedi and the freed Nelvaanians. Like other supporters of the Separatists, the Techno Union floundered in the wake of the Clone Wars, after Wat Tambor was assassinated on Mustafar by Darth Vader. With the nationalization of many of its corporate signatories by the Empire, the Techno Union ceased to exist early in the era of the New Order. (COD, SWDB)

Theelin
this near-human species was nearly bred out of existence, by the time of the Galactic Civil War. Their own genetic make-up became their downfall, as the union of male and female gametes often resulted in incompatabilities that doomed the tiny embryo. It was later discovered that Theelin individuals were more compatable with pure human stock, but crossbreeding was insufficient to keep the Theelin population alive. As a people, the Theelin race was noted for its beautiful musical works, although most of their most stirring works were written to lament the race's eventual extinction. (DE1, SWDB)

Thul, Raynar
this spoiled, troublesome heir of Bornan and Aryn Dro Thul, Raynar was a student at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4 at the same time Jacen and Jaina Solo are there. He always wore outrageous clothing styled in his family's royal colors, none of which go with each other. A bristly-haired blond youth, Raynar disliked Jacen Solo, especially Jacen's collection of exotic creatures. Raynar was bitten a number of times by Jacen's crystal snake. When the Shadow Academy attacked Yavin 4, Raynar discovered that he wasn't as skilled as he believed himself to be. In a quick fight with Brakiss' Dark Jedi, Raynar ended up face-down in a riverbank and missed most of the fighting. Raynar's demeanor changes, and he decided that he must work for the prestige he wanted, rather than claim it was his. Raynar and Jacen eventually overcame their differences and became good friends. After Han Solo delivered the news that Bornan had disappeared, Ranyar became entangled with the Diversity Alliance. After Zekk returned to Yavin 4, he and Raynar agreed to cooperate and search out Raynar's father. They took the Lightning Rod, and eventually located Bornan. Raynar assisted all his friends in defeating the forces of the Diversity Alliance. Later, during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Raynar was part of an elite force sent to Myrkr to locate the voxyn queen and destroy it. During the mission, he got to known Eryl Besa quite well. Despite the fact that she was older, they found themselves attracted to each other. However, Eryl was killed shortly after the Jedi team entered the Baanu Rass, and Raynar fell into despair. After being slashed by a voxyn, Raynar was transported to the Tachyon Flier, and tried to work with Lowbacca to repair the ship as a way to relieve the pain. The ship was stolen by Welk and Lomi Plo, who forced Lowbacca off the ship as they departed. When the small freighter was attacked by Yuuzhan Vong ships and disappeared, Raynar was believed to have died along with his captors. However, their ship managed to escape to the Unknown Regions before crashing. Welk and Lomi Plo fled the site after Raynar dragged them out of the wreckage, and Raynar was able to survive only because he was rescued by members of the Yoggoy hive of the Colony. His badly burned body was nursed back to health, and Raynar's connection to the Force allowed him to communicate with his rescuers. He eventually became the first - and strongest - of the Joiners, and fully pledged himself to the newly-formed Unu hive. After a while, he became known simply as UnuThul. Under his guidance, the various hives of the Colony flourished, and began to expand beyond their former systems toward Chiss space. For all intents and purposes, Raynar Thul had ceased to exist. For many years, his memory of saving Welk and Lomi Plo was missing, and he refused to acknowledge that he had saved them until he was presented with Welk's body nearly six years later. It was at this time that Thul was forced to acknowledge the existence of the Dark Nest. (HTF, SHA, TEP, SBS, NJOSB, DN1, DN2)

Tig Fromm
Sise Fromm's son, this Annoo-dat Blue went by the names of Baby-face Fromm and Junior Fromm. He liked to meddle with modern technology, and he built the weapons satellite Trigon One to help keep the inhabitants of Annoo in line. His dreams of supremacy were shattered when Demma Moll and her freedom fighters, assisted by R2-D2 and C-3PO, destroyed the satellite. Tig Vlix then spent many months trying to regain favor with Sise Fromm, trying to capture the rebels who destroyed the satellite. Unfortunately, Tig and Vlix were captured by Boba Fett on Boonta, and the pair were turned over to Jabba the Hutt. (DCAR, DM111)

Tosk, Warlan Presvere
this intense man, a native of the planet Alderaan, served as Lavina Wren's personal bodyguard during her visits to the Cularin System at the height of the Clone Wars. After Senator Wren was arrested and sent to a Republic Holding Facility, Tosk believed that she was about to be murdered for her vocal outbursts. He tried several times to free her from prison, and even went through the trouble to get a Republic Senate Seal for her release orders, but he was unable to get her out. He briefly thought that her imprisonment was not what he believed, but was, in fact, an attempt by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to ensure her safety amidst the conflict. However, he could not shake the feeling that something was wrong, especially when he recognized a Zabrak criminal posing as a Renna's Transport Service deliverybeing entering the Holding Facility. Before he could warn the receptionist, the facility exploded in an immense fireball, then collapsed inward. His worst fears confirmed, Tosk managed to escape the scene, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice on his own terms. He returned to the scene of the explosion and managed to pull Senator Wren from the wreckage, but their attempt to escape was met with stern opposition. They were aided by an unknown benefactor, who provided them with a ship. However, as they raced back to hide on Cularin, substantial bounties were offered for their capture, with Tosk himself commanding 20,000 credits if captured alive. (LFCW)

Toth, Cavik
this mercenary and his band of hired killers were active during the years leading up to the Battle of Geonosis. Noted for their exclusive use of Sabaoth Starfighters, Cavik Toth agreed to support Count Dooku and the Separatists during the Clone Wars. Toth took his Sabaoth Squadron and tried to subjugate the Karthakk System, hoping to take control of its resource-rich worlds for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. For many months, the only resistance Toth encountered came from Nym and the Lok Revenants, until Adi Gallia was dispatched by the Jedi Council to enlist Nym's help in defeating Toth. Toth, however, had been charged with delivering a massive shipment of Trihexalon to the Separatist forces being amassed for the Battle of Geonosis. Although the production facility on Nod Kartha was destroyed, Toth and his fleet managed to escape with their cargo. They were not able to reach Geonosis, however, before Master Gallia's small fleet intercepted them. In a vicious space battle, Toth was killed and his forces decimated, preventing the use of the deadly chemical against the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic. (TCG5, JSF)

Touch-not
this species of poisonous plant was native to Yavin 4 The touch-not's leaves exuded a contact toxin that caused skin to blister and burn, even in small amounts. This toxic sap was especially dangerous to Mon Calamari beings. (ISU, GG2, SWEMO)

Tracomp
a shipboard sensor that located a planet's magnetic poles for ground referencing. They were small components, capable of being removed and used in a handheld manner. When removed in this manner, a tracomp sensor could fit in the palm of a man's hand. (SME, LJ2)

Tresina Lobi
this Chev was a Jedi Knight, having learned her control of the Force at Luke Skywalker's Jedi praxeum. She had an innate ability to blend into a crowd, especially crowds of non-humans. Tresina and her padawan, Thrynni Vae, were dispatched to Duro to ascertain the role of independent shipping concerns in the decision to allow Duro to become a havne for refugees. Shortly after learning that several key votes in the Duros High House were bought out by independent shipping concerns, Thrynni Vae disappeared. Tresina continued to search for her, but had to return to Coruscant and explain the situation to Luke Skywalker. She also discovered that supplies for various refugee cities were being diverted to Urrdorf. Tresina was ultimately one of the handful of Jedi Knights to survive the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong. She was promoted to the rank of Jedi Master, and was one of a handful of Jedi who were chosen by Luke Skywalker to sit on the new Jedi Order's leadership council. Note that Destiny's Way makes reference to Lobi's "long snout", mistakenly identifying her as a Chevin, not a Chev. (BP, DW, UF, DN2)

Trident-class Surveyor Ship
this scout ship was manufactured by Arakyd Industries, during the height of the New Order. This long-range reconnaissance vessel was outfitted with a wide range of sensors and scanners, allowing it to handle even the most demanding exploration missions. (OWS, DM106)

Trihexalon
this biological weapon was developed several years before the onset of the Clone Wars. Known in certain circles as Dragon's Breath, it served as the basis for many bio-weapons developed by the Separatists, and this simple fact allowed the Old Republic's Ministry of Science to quickly identify vaccines to counteract it. The primary Trihexalon production facility established by the Separatists was on Nod Kartha, until Adi Gallia and Nym destroyed it, just prior to the Battle of Geonosis. (SWI66, JSF)

Tzizvvt
this male Brizzit was hiding from Imperial authorities on Tatooine prior to the Battle of Yavin. He was in Mos Eisley, trying to secure passage deeper into the Outer Rim Territories, when Luke Skywalker and Ben Kenobi approached Han Solo for passage to Alderaan. At the time, Tzizvvt claimed to have been a professor of xenoarchaeology on his homeworld of Jandoon, a claim that Solomahal doubted until Garindan produced information on an Imperial warrant for the arrest of a Brizzit named Ilna. Ilna's biography was vague enough that it could have been Tzizvvt, especially when Tzizvvt produced information on the so-called Eye of the Beyonder. Solomahal was at least convinced of Tzizvvt's ability to locate treasure when the Brizzit produced a piece of brilliant jewlery that he claimed had come from Jandoon, and agreed to fund an expedition to locate the Eye of the Beyonder. (CCG2, SWDB)

Unu
this was one of the many hives that made up the Colony. Like all other hives within the Colony, the members of the Unu hive referred to themselves, as well as the entire nest, as Unu, and acted upon the Will of the Unu hive. However, the Unu were different in that the hive was made up of individuals from all other hives of the Colony. In this way, the Unu became even more important. The Unu hive rose to prominence some five years after the Galactic Alliance defeated the Yuuzhan Vong, when the former Jedi Knight Raynar Thul was rescued by the Yoggoy and joined to the hive. The influence of the former Jedi gave rise to a new hive within the Yoggoy, which became known as the Unu. Where the other hives of the Colony lacked any concern for any one individual, Thul's training made him stop to assist injured beings rather than simply leaving them to die and then feeding their flesh to the infantile grubs. Thul imparted his caring to those Yoggoy around him, and these new beings created the Unu hive. As the Unu began sharing with other hives, the Colony experienced a form of rebirth that led to its rapid expansion in the Unknown Regions. Thus, the Unu hive became "the nest of nests," and Raynar became UnuThul and the Prime Unu. The combined leadership of the members of the Unu hive became known as the Will of the Colony. (DN1, DN2)

UnuThul
this was the name adopted by Raynar Thul, after he became fully integrated into the Yoggoy hive of the Colony and established the Unu hive. As UnuThul, he was able to allow the Unu hive to touch the Force, an act that gave the Colony more desire to grow and live beyond their once humble existence. Under UnuThul's guidance, the Colony expanded their settlements in the Unknown Regions, and created trading relationships with many planets in the Outer Rim. The expansion of the Colony worried the beighboring Chiss, who feared that the Colony might take over some of their worlds. Although tradition demanded that the Chiss could not attack first, they used subtler techniques to force the Colony to retreat. Many of the Colony's settlements were badly damaged by teams of Chiss who spread defoliants and other chemicals to destroy crops, in an effort to starve the hives. UnuThul, seeing the possible loss of life for the Colony, sent out a call through the Force to his old friends from the Jedi praxeum. The call was answered by the members of the team that had attacked a Yuuzhan Vong worldship near Myrkr, including Jaina Solo and Lowbacca. The Jedi left their missions to join UnuThul, and began working to drive off the Chiss. However, when the time came to vigorously defend the Colony, UnuThul demanded that the Jedi leave the Colony, claiming that the Kind didn't want their friends to be harmed. Throughout the years, however, UnuThul was unaware that Welk and Lomi Plo had also survived The Crash, and had established the so-called Dark Nest. Even after Luke Skywalker was attacked on Yoggoy, and Saba Sebatyne was attacked by Welk on Jwlio, UnuThul refused to believe that the Dark Nest existed. Ultimately, he was forced to confront the presence of an evil hive of the Colony when Luke Skywalker defeated Welk on Kr and brought his body as evidence to UnuThul. It was then that Raynar Thul's memories flooded back into his mind. He remembered saving both Welk and Lomi Plo, and became agitated when Lomi Plo's body was not found. He initially claimed that the Dark Nest was part of a devious Chiss plot, but was forced to admit that, in a disassociated way, his actions in saving the Dark Jedi probably led to the birth of the Gorog. He was somewhat vindicated when it was learned that the Chiss mentality aided the Gorog in their ability to maintain secrecy, and he ordered that no more Chiss were to be accepted as Joiners. In order to ensure this order was followed, UnuThul agreed to Leia Organa Solo's plan to relocate the Qoribu nests to Woteba, a planet that was deeper in the Unknown Regions and well away from Chiss space. The relative peace that followed was short-lived, however, when UnuThul learned of the existence of the Fizz. He blamed the Jedi for the problems it caused, accusing them of knowing about the existence of the Fizz and tricking the Colony into relocating to worlds where they would be afflicted. His blind sense of truth forced UnuThul to begin authorizing expansion of the Colony beyond the Utegetu Nebula, which was met by a show of force from the Galactic Alliance. UnuThul also refused to believe that the Dark Nest had survived, despite the evidence of black membrosia and the continued existence of Lomi Plo. Meanwhile, he was unaware that the build-up of military supplies and starship parts was being sent to create nest ships that would transport Gorog-controlled hives out of the nebula and into the rest of the galaxy. Valarians
also known as the Valarian Syndicate, this daring gang of thugs established a base of operations in the Sserician Eclipse sector of the Dantooine System, during the early years of the New Order. The Valarians were known for their bravado and ferocity, and was reported to have challenged the presence of the Empire in the system during the months following the Battle of Yavin. An offshoot of the Valarians established a base on Tatooine, shortly after the Battle of Yavin. (SWGAL)

Vo Dasha
this primary moon of the gas giant Taboon, Vo Dasha was the site of Bogga the Hutt's ancient stronghold, some 4,000 years before the Galactic Civil War. It was an arid world of rocky mountains and plains. The trees that grew on this rugged terrain were noted for their dense wood, which was harvested at great cost and used to create exquisite pieces of furniture. (TOJC, OWS)

Will of the Colony, The
this was the name given to the overriding Will of the entire collection of hives inhabited by the Kind. Although each hive had its own Will, all of these were guided by the Will of the Colony. The Will of the Colony was believed to have been created when Raynar Thul was joined to the Yoggoy hive, after The Crash. As the Unu hive was formed and UnuThul drew on his connection to the Force, he established a telepathic connection to every hive of the Kind, regardless of distance, by tapping into the combined Force potential of the Kind. In this way, the various members of the Unu hive contributed their own hive's consciousness to the Will of the Colony, allowing the Kind to expand beyond their then-current borders without breaking their links to the main hive. It was this expansion of the Colony, controlled by the Will of the Colony, that worried the Chiss enough to attempt to starve entire worlds of the Kind. (DN1, DN2)

Winterfest
this festival was held among the witch clans on Dathomir, and was rooted in the history of the Nightsisters. The exact nature of the celebrations that occured during Winterfest were a mystery to offworlders, but the event was often accompanied by raids in which Nightsisters looted and pillaged cities to gather supplies. (CPL, SWGAL)

Wonetun
this Brubb was the pilot of the Jolly Man, and lent his assistance to the Jedi Knights during the height of the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy. Wonetun and his crew worked tirelessly with Danni Quee to try and capture a live yammosk for investigation, as part of the Eclipse Project. Wonetun was ultimately one of the supporters of the Jedi Knights to survive the conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong, and he later trained to become an X-Wing pilot. (SBS, UF, DN2)

Wren, Lavina Durada-Vashne
this woman served as Cularin's Senator to the New Republic, during the years leading up to the Battle of Naboo. Her administration brought a great deal of financial stability to Cularin's corporations, and worked out a treaty with the Tarasin to maintain peace. However, there was some animosity between Senator Wren and the Jedi Knights who operated the Almas Academy. Her personal life was something of a mystery, as she made every effort to keep it out of the spotlight. Wren enjoyed her privacy, and in the vacuum of reports their sprang up all sortsor rumors, not the least of which that she was a descendent of Reidi Artom. After it was announced that she had snubbed a dinner invitation from Chancellor Valorum himself, Senator Wren returned to Cularin to announced that she was getting married. She continued to act as Cularin's Senator, and even earned the endorsement of crimelord Nirama in maintaining the integrity of Cularin System. However, because she spent so much of her time on Coruscant, many feared that she had forgotten her homeworld amidst the riches and splendor of the galactic capital. Many of these sentiments were cast aside when, during the height of the Clone Wars, her diplomatic cruiser was destroyed shortly after landing on Coruscant, in much the same way that Senator Padme' Amidala's vessel had been destroyed months earlier. Senator Wren managed to survive the explosion, when a guards managed to push her into a crash capsule just before the disaster occurred. It was during this time that Senator Wren appealed to the Senate for military aid for Cularin, both for assistance in the Clone Wars and for combatting the Thaereian Military. She was denied three successive times, despite her impassioned pleas, rendering her request "frivolous" in the eyes of her peers. As the war ground on, Senator Wren found herself suddenly under arrest for collusion with the Separatists and treasonous behavior against the Republic. She was placed under arrest, and Chancellor Palpatine ordered that the entire Cularin System be placed under martial law until the crisis was over. Senator Wren spent some time in a Republic Holding Facility, and even Warlan Tosk's presentation of a Republic Senate Sealed letter requesting her release was not enough to free her. Unfortunately for Cularin, Senator Wren was believed to have died in an explosion at the Holding Facility, caused by a Zabrak suicide bomber. She was later rescued by Tosk, but their escape was met with stern opposition. They were aided by an unknown benefactor, who provided them with a ship. However, as they raced back to hide on Cularin, substantial bounties were offered for their capture, with Senator Wren herself commanding 35,000 credits if captured alive. (LFCW)

Wroshyr
native to the planet Kashyyyk, this species of trees could grow to heights measured in kilometers, with a few specimens tall enough to reach the clouds. Wookiee scientists located wroshyr trees with diameters that were several kilometers across, a fact that helped them support their massive trunks. Wroshyr trees dominated the planet's surface, extending to the tiny polar caps and the small desert located at the equator. While the surface of Kashyyyk was estimated to be forty-percent covered by water, the commingled wroshyr trees blocked any view of the water from space. The Wookiees who were native to Kashyyk built their cities in wroshyr trees, taking advantage of the tree's natural strengths to create their cities. The branches of a wroshyr tree merged with one another when they intersected, branching out to form vast networks of limbs. As these networks expanded, the Wookiees, could train them to grow in certain directions, allowing them to form living buttresses and walls. The merging of two wroshyr branches stood as a symbol of the unity and strength of the Wookiee people. The upper portion of a wroshyr tree was set aside for nursery rings, where young Wookiees were raised. Even at these heights, the wroshyr trees measured almost half a kilometer in diameter. Each wroshyr tree reproduced by producing cones every 100 years. Each cone contained a single seed, which was protected by the cone until it fell to the ground. Wookiees known as Tree Carers often gathered the fallen cones, storing the seeds for later planting. (HTTE, GMR4)

Wrruushi
this was the name of a Wookiee martial art. Those Wookiees who became skilled in Wrruushi combat were known as devastating hand-to-hand fighters, and were considered deadly at close ranges. The Wrruushi form of combat was never taught to beings of other races, since it could only be performed by the incredibly strong physique of a Wookiee. Compared to other forms of martial arts, the Wrruushi was relatively slow-paced, being focused on intensely-powerful punches and jabs that took advantage of a Wookiee's upper-body strength. The advantage of this form of martial art was that it emphasized the use of a single, heavy strike against one's opponent, rather than a combination of two or three blows. (DARK, HG)

XR808g
this was the name of Jae Juun's smuggling vessel, named simply for the Galactic Alliance ship's registry designation it received when it was put into service. Juun and his first mate, Tarfang, used the ship for several runs for the Colony, before they hooked up with Han Solo. The XR808g was a modified YT-1000 freigher, armed with four short-range blaster cannons spaced evenly around its hull. During the Qoribu Crisis, Jae Juun tried to infiltrate Colony space with the vessel, claiming to be a simple transport vessel bringing supplies to the Jedi who were on Qoribu. The presence of the XR808g was detected by the Colony, which sent a swarm of dartships to intercept it. The ship was badly damaged in the attack, and Jae Juun and Tarfang had to be rescued by Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. The XR808g did not survive the mission, and had to be abandoned to Qoribu's intense gravity. Han agreed to help Jae Juun recover from the loss by arranging for the purchase of a newer vessel from his old friend, Lando Calrissian. (DN1, DN2)

Yinchorr
the surface of this planet, the primary world in the Yinchorri System, was covered with rocky deserts. Leia Organa was betrayed by an Alderaanian stormtrooper on this planet, shortly before the Battle of Endor. She had been shot down during her arrival at the planet, having been betrayed by a group of Yinchorri delegates. The Imperials believed that Leia died in the crash, but the stormtrooper found her at the crashsite. He revealed that he was an Alderaanian commoner who joined the Empire because he was disgruntled with the prosperity of the royal family. Despite his anger, the stormtrooper eventually forged a bond with Leia, which was broken when he was shot and killed by Governor Wessel during Leia's escape from Yinchorr. A few months later, Yinchorr was "cleansed" of its original inhabitants by the Empire, in order to make way for a training facility for Emperor Palpatine's elite Royal Imperial Guard. The planet was abandoned after Carnor Jax destroyed the Royal Imperial Guard facility there, shortly after the death of Emperor Palpatine's clones at Byss. Note that Star Wars Insider magazine, issue 85, indicates that the Yinchorr training facility was established by the Empire well before the onset of the Galactic Civil War. The magazine also indicates that the planet is located in the Mid Rim. (CE, AOW, MC86, LTA6, SWI85)

YT-1300f
this was a modification to the basic YT-1300 freighter produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. It was given a slightly better hyperdrive, allowing the freighter to reach its destination faster than the standard model. The YT-1300f was also equipped with standard docking rings. Because of this upgrade, the YT-1300f found a niche among transport operations shipping medical supplies to the battlefronts of the Clone Wars. It was believed that the Millennium Falcon was originally manufactured as a YT-1300f. (MBS, DM103)

Zonder
this fur-covered Selonian was one of the many Jedi Knights who fought for the Old Republic during the height of the Clone Wars. Zonder was the Padawan learner chosen by Barriss Offee, just before they were dispatched to Felucia to capture Shu Mai on Felucia. Their mission was part of the Republic's plan to capture all the leaders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, in an effort to force Count Dooku to surrender. Zonder, along with Ekria and Drake Lo'gaan, managed to intercept the communication of Order 66 to Commander Bly on Felucia. Interestingly, they found that it had been sent on a secure Republic link, but with encryption used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Unfortunately, they discovered the message's true intent too late, and were forced to stand by as Aayla Secura was cut down by Bly and his clones. After escaping from Felucia, Zonder, Ekria, and Drake returned to Coruscant as refugees, then slipped into the Jedi Temple. There, Ekria erased all information on them from the computer banks of the Jedi Archives, allowing them to continue to operate undercover. The Padawans then tried to blend in by getting normal jobs, but Zonder was sent to a work crew while Drake was taken to a COMPNOR meeting. He was placed on the work detail that was to be sent to Byss to complete the building of the Emerald Splendor Estates, unaware that the entire group of aliens destined for Byss was to be executed.
