Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch blog got an exclusive piece of concept art from LucasArts' just-announced videogame Star Wars 1313. In the image, a Consular-class space cruiser is seen descending into the depths of Coruscant -- possibly to the newly-revealed Level 1313, where the game will take place. Click through to check out the concept art.
As I observed while covering the big reveal on GameTrailers TV, the underworld chasm seen in this concept art (but first shown in the announcement video) bears a striking resemblance to the chasm that Jedi Master Plo Koon and Padawan Ahsoka Tano used to access the planet's grimy depths in search of Aurra Sing in The Clone Wars Season 2 finale. Furthermore, the Consular-class ship in the new artwork is the same type of craft that delivered Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to the Trade Federation vessel in The Phantom Menace.
If the game elements in this piece of concept art are supposed to familiarize us with Coruscant by drawing on recognizable imagery, then I'd say we're looking at a story set in the late Rise of the Empire (or early Rebellion) era.
Star Wars 1313 will be demoed on GameTrailers TV, a Spike TV gaming show, on Monday, June 4th at 10pm ET. We'll have more to report about the game after that segment airs.
