The First Reactions To Star Wars: The Mandalorian Are In!

Just one day after Disney revealed the release schedule for The Mandalorian, we have some first reactions from a lucky group of journalists who were shown almost 30 minutes of footage! For the most part, everyone loved what they saw and it sounds like we're in for a real treat come November 12th!

Here's a few of the immediate reactions we saw online!

Ash Crossan of Entertainment Tonight, who hosted the event, had this to say...

In my Star Wars experience, tears are usually a good thing! But Ash wasn't the only person praising the new series, several more joined her chorus of praise including TFN's own, James Burns...

Definitely darker and more adult oriented than anything Disney has done so far!

Just saw almost 30 minutes of #TheMandalorian’s pilot episode. It feels like a thrilling return to the original trilogy era of Star Wars. It feels like a big scale movie, not a tv series. They are still keeping a lot of mystery with deliberate cuts in the footage.

Just saw 30 mins of #TheMandalorian. Uh...WOW. Feels more western than sci-fi - from the shootouts to the stand-offs to the vidalia onion stew a new droid character named “Gramps” is always doting over. We are entering a new phase of Star Wars and the future is looking bright!

If anyone was worried that the show would deviate from that original feel of Star Wars, I think your worries can be put at ease, at least for now. The overwhelming majority of people who actually saw the footage loved it, and I didn't see a single negative reaction to the show anywhere. Although most comments were broad based, describing the overall tone of the show, some got more specific, praising both the score of the show by Ludwig Göransson, as well as its lead actor, Pedro Pascal.

It’s truly staggering how much character and depth @PedroPascal1 imbues #TheMandalorian with just in those few short scenes, even when robbed of an actor’s primary means of conveying emotion. There’s a whole life there you can’t wait to dig into.

Saw 30 minutes of #TheMandalorian footage. Old studio westerns of the 40’s and 50’s with a dash of samurai movie vibes mixed in a Star Wars-y blender. I think Star Wars fans will be very pleased. @ludwiggoransson’s score is marvelous.
