Star Wars Episode VII To Get IMAX Release
The IMAX Corporation and The Walt Disney Company have announced a multi-film deal for IMAX releases of six upcoming Disney films, and Episode VII is among them.
"Under the agreement," the press release says, "IMAX will be part of Disney's release strategy for its most highly-anticipated live-action tentpole films, including Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 2014), Maleficent (May 2014), Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (August 2014), and Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron (May 2015), Tomorrowland (May 2015) and Star Wars: Episode VII (December 2015)."
We saw a rumor about Episode VII shooting partially in IMAX back in September, but if J.J. Abrams (who has been critical of shooting in IMAX) gets his way, it may end up being an IMAX-converted film instead.
