Upcoming Products From Fantasy Flight Games

When it comes to tabletop gaming, Fantasy Flight Games has an incredible reputation. They design great games, they make it easy for new players to jump in, and they care deeply about protecting the integrity of the Star Wars name.

Here's the rundown of their announcements from Celebration Anaheim, as well as some other news from earlier this month.

Fantasy Flight Games' newest Star Wars game, Star Wars: Armada is now available! Unlike the dogfighting in the X-Wing Miniatures game, Armada features fleet combat and maneuvers.

The Core Set is now available, and it includes everything you need for a two-player game, including gorgeous-looking models of a Victory-class Star Destroyer, a CR90 Corellian corvette, and a Nebulon-B frigate.

If you've ever wanted to command your own fleet, pick up the Core Set now!

FFG also recently released Imperial Assault. This game for two to five players incorporates some elements from the roleplaying game and presents it in a board game of tactical combat and missions. With both a "campaign" and a "skirmish" mode, Imperial Assault offers a great new way to immerse yourself in a Star Wars gaming adventure.

Like with FFG's other games, you can add to the scope of your Imperial Assault adventure with new characters—specifically, Ally Packs and Villain Packs.

At Celebration Anaheim, we were introduced to the Stormtroopers Villain Pack, the Wookiee Warriors Ally Pack, and the Hired Guns Villain Pack.

From FFG's website:
Each figure pack has plenty to tip the odds in your favor, whether you play a campaign or a skirmish. In each expansion, you’ll find sculpted plastic figures to swell your armies, alongside a new campaign side mission and a new skirmish map with two skirmish missions. Combined with new Deployment cards, Command cards, Reward cards, and Agenda cards, these figure packs expand your options for any game of Imperial Assault. Unlike other Ally Packs and Villain Packs, these figure packs do not replace tokens found in another expansion. Instead, this wave of Ally Packs and Villain Packs offers brand-new units to introduce to your games of Imperial Assault for the first time!

We also got a look at the R2-D2 and C-3PO Ally Pack, the Boba Fett Villain Pack, and the Kayn Somos Villain Pack.

Also announced was the first full Imperial Assault expansion, Twin Shadows.

From FFG's website:
This expansion offers new content for both the campaign game and the skirmish game. You can play a fully formed mini-campaign that challenges your Rebel heroes to rush to Han Solo's aid or battle through a Mos Eisley cantina in the skirmish game. Two new heroes join the forces of the Rebel Alliance, but Heavy Stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders fight for the forces of the Empire. With ten sculpted plastic figures, twelve double-sided map tiles, and over sixty new cards, Twin Shadows brings new levels of danger and skulduggery to every Imperial Assault game.

The X-Wing Miniatures Game is the hottest Star Wars game I've seen in years, and FFG continues to demonstrate how dedicated they are to this incredible system.

At Celebration, they introduced the Wave VII ships!

The Scum and Villainy faction gets another large ship with the YV-666 light freighter, best known as Bossk's ship, the Hound's Tooth. This expansion also includes a new Z-95 Headhunter ship card, the Nashtah Pup. The Black Sun syndicate gains the Kihraxz assault fighter, the Rebellion deploys the durable K-wing, and the Empire unleashes the fury of the TIE Punisher.

These ships will be available in the third quarter of 2015.

In the meantime, don't forget to pre-order the Empire's first "huge" ship, the Imperial Raider!
