Lucasfilm Games Is Being Resurrected By Disney

A Disney spokesperson has reached out to inform Gamasutra that the below job postings do not indicate a revival of the Lucasfilm Games brand, but apparently are for a segment of an existing business that coincidentally shares the name of the LucasArts precursor.

The representative sought to make clear that Disney is continuing its licensed games strategy with partners like EA and NetMarble.

In a move some say thumbs their nose at EA's attempts at Star Wars gaming, Disney has listed several new job listings under the Lucasfilm Games banner right here online.

The jobs listed include:

Producer (Lucasfilm Games)
The Producer will be a highly motivated individual responsible for managing the review and approval of interactive products that incorporate Lucasfilm IP, such as Star Wars film and television properties, across all digital platforms, including but not limited to: Mobile (iOS, Android, Windows), Console (Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Switch), PC/Mac, and AR/VR platforms. The person in this role will be responsible for partnering with the Managing Producer/Senior Producer, as well as internal and external cross functional groups, to deliver innovative, high quality/brand-enhancing products.

Assistant Producer (Lucasfilm Games)
The Assistant Producer will be a highly motivated individual responsible for supporting the review and approval of interactive products that incorporate Lucasfilm IP, such as Star Wars film and television properties, across all digital platforms, including but not limited to: Mobile (iOS, Android), Console (Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Switch), PC/Mac, and AR/VR platforms. The person in this role will be responsible for partnering with a Producer to deliver innovative, high quality/brand-enhancing products.

Brand Art Coordinator (Lucasfilm Games)
The Lucasfilm Franchise Games Creative Team is seeking a Brand Art Coordinator. This unique position requires someone who is a driven, multi-tasking, creative individual. Must be highly organized and has a strong knowledge of the creative and art process. It’s required to understand the importance of effectively keep the process moving through administrative supportive. The position is the organizational backbone of the art department and this individual should have amazing people skills with a solid understanding the creative priorities and a desire to improve process.

Brand Marketing Coordinator (Lucasfilm Games)
The Lucasfilm Franchise Games team is looking for a well organized, flexible and enthusiastic Brand Marketing Coordinator to help support the team while working on multiple Star Wars video game titles on console, PC, and mobile. Working with the entire brand team and multiple internal and external stakeholders, this person will help manage the day to day operations of the department, while also focusing on approvals, release schedules, and trafficking creative.

Associate Brand Art Director (Lucasfilm Games)
Lucasfilm Franchise Games is looking to hire an Associate Brand Art Director on their Creative Team. This unique position requires an experienced, highly creative and motivated individual to partner with the best game developers in the world to build the next great set of Star Wars and Lucasfilm heritage products. This role supports the visual development and production of multiple licensed titles by providing helping define creating inspiring and information concept art and providing artistic direction, visual guidance and brand feedback for our games and interactive experiences that help define the style and quality standards on the target device.

Assistant Producer (Lucasfilm Games - Asia)
The Assistant Producer will be a highly motivated individual responsible for supporting the review and approval of interactive products that incorporate Lucasfilm IP, such as Star Wars film and television properties, across all digital platforms, including but not limited to: Mobile (iOS, Android), Console (Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, Nintendo Switch), PC/Mac, and AR/VR platforms. The person in this role will be responsible for partnering with a Producer to deliver innovative, high quality/brand-enhancing products.

Associate Brand Marketing Manager (Lucasfilm Games)
The Lucasfilm Franchise Games team is looking for an Associate Brand Marketing Manager to work on multiple Star Wars video game titles on console, PC, AR/VR and mobile. Working alongside our Brand Marketing Manager, this person will help manage key stakeholders, internal game teams, and licensees on industry leading brand campaigns. The Associate Brand Marketing Manager will support the team while helping manage successful go to market executions, remaining on brand and championing overall franchise priorities to extend reach and market share of the Star Wars IP.


It becomes clear reading each job description that Lucasfilm Games will be creating new multiple Star Wars video game titles for consoles, PC, AR/VR and mobile. This is great news for Star Wars gamers given the few offerings from EA since Disney purchased Lucasfilm six years ago. This is still in the early stages of development, but they clearly have a plan.
