George Lucas: J.J. Abrams 'Understands' Star Wars
In an interview at the 2013 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards, where he received the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award, George Lucas expressed confidence in director J.J. Abrams' ability to produce a worthy sequel to his Original Trilogy with Star Wars Episode VII.
"I think he understands the whole thing and how it works," Lucas told Access Hollywood, before jokingly adding, "If he doesn't, Kathy [Kennedy] will keep it straight."
Lucas also addressed the extent of his own involvement in the first sequel, saying, "If they need help or anything, they’ll give me a call," but adding that he didn't expect to be doing "much."
