Star Wars Legend Peter Mayhew Had Successful Spinal Surgery
Our very own Peter Mayhew took to Twitter yesterday to announce that he is recovering from successful spinal surgery, something he had been planning for some time. The 7'2" actor has of course played Han Solo’s Wookiee sidekick Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy as well as 2005's Revenge of the Sith and 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
To go along with the tweet, Mayhew also shared an image of himself lying in his hospital bed, striking a classic Chewbacca pose with his arms above his head. For many years, Mayhew has walked with a lightsaber walking stick and has often used a wheelchair to help him get around, this surgery should greatly improve his mobility according to Mayhew.
He also took to Twitter later on to announce due to the surgery he would have to cancel a few events...
"Bad news. Due to my recent surgery, I will not be able to attend the upcoming London Film & Comic Con, but I have rescheduled and will be attending their show in March. Sorry to miss you all but I'll be over as soon as my legs can paddle me across the pond. Cheers, Peter."
Make sure you head over to Peter's Twitter account (@TheWookieeRoars) and wish him a safe and speedy recovery!
