Ron Howard Isn't Buying The Star Wars Spinoff Rumors
While walking in Beverly Hills recently, Solo: A Star Wars Story director Ron Howard was asked by reporters his thoughts on the latest rumors involving future Star Wars spinoffs. From his perspective that's not entirely the case as you can read from the quote below...
"I don't think that's entirely accurate. I think that was reported, but I don't think that's exactly what I understand. Yeah, and I think the fans -- look everybody at Lucasfilm and Disney really cares about the fans. And so, you know, I think it's an ongoing process of like discovering what it can be and what it can all add up to. So, it's really a process. And I like the fact that personally that they take some chances, take some risks, and see how people respond to it."
Howard has admitted disappointment in the performance of his Star Wars effort at the box office but seems to think Disney and Lucasfilm are indeed listening to fans and moving forward. While all the recent reports have been proven at least to be hyperbole, the only film currently locked into the schedule is J.J. Abrams Episode IX due out December of 2019.
As far as any Boba Fett or Obi-Wan Kenobi standalones, we have many reports and whispers but nothing concrete to go on just yet. The situation seems to be entirely fluid at the moment and only the folks at Disney and Lucasfilm know the answers. But if you're rooting for more anthology films from this group, these words from Howard should give you some hope.
