Lucasfilm has released the following statement at StarWars.com:

JAN 13, 2017

We don't normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address. We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher's performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.

Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to Star Wars.

For Rogue One, the first standalone Star Wars film, Lucasfilm decided against assigning John Williams as composer. Alexandre Desplat was originally tasked to write the music, but after he had to drop out of the project late in development, it was decided to bring on veteran composer Michael Giacchino to take his place. With just a few months before release to work with, Giacchino managed to create a score that, like the film itself, cements its own, unique place in Star Wars lore.
