Spoonful of Star Wars? Over 100 paintings of vintage Star Wars? action figures by Bwana Spoons July 20 ? July 24, 2011 San Diego Comic-Con DKE Toys booth #4728
This special exhibition of over 100 original paintings by artist Bwana Spoons features portraits of vintage Star Wars? action figures done in the artist's signature style. Bright colors, rainbows, humor and fart jokes come though in what Bwana calls, "an awesome dream project." Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys commissioned Bwana Spoons to reinterpret each vintage Kenner Star Wars? action figure from the original line 1977-1985.
These creative interpretations include not only the popular figures but also variations that every Star Wars fan will love! The show will be on display in the DKE Toys booth (#4728) at San Diego Comic-Con.
Spoonful of Star Wars? is produced by DKE Toys and is from the collection of Dov Kelemer & Sarah Jo Marks. Dov and Sarah Jo have produced several art shows together including; The Vader Project, STUFFED, a plush food show and The Custom Yoka Show.
Bwana Spoons When he was a little one he would draw detailed crayon renderings of his favorite Star Wars figures exploding in a rainbowblast of colors. In early adulthood he lost them all in a battle with a mildew giant.
DKE Toys: Dov Kelemer & Sarah Jo Marks are Co-Curators of Spoonful of Star Wars and Co-Founders of DKE Toys, one of the largest designer vinyl and art-toy distribution companies in the world, exclusively representing over 200 companies, artists, and designers. www.dketoys.com
