Star Wars Is Everywhere: Episode XLIX

Posted By Mike on August 17, 2011

A seemingly sunken Millennium Falcon, lots of 501st coverage and a tribute to the Battle of Yavin highlight this 49th edition of Star Wars is Everywhere.

Telegraph.co.uk has a picture from the bottom of the Baltic Sea that sure looks a lot like the Millennium Falcon.

Not only has the AP written an article about the famed Lawrence Noble Yoda statue at Lucasfilm's headquarters, and not only was our very own Jovial Jay Shepard quoted in the article, but apparently he also founded TFN. Thanks Jay!!!

In related news, the Official Starwars.com Blog let's us know that Lawrence Noble has launched his own website.

Sounds like the children of Brownsville, Texas sure had a good time at the Jedi Training Camp provided by the Brownsville Children's Museum. From BrownsvilleHerald.com:

"Javier Garcia thrust his blue light saber toward his opponent, his brown robe rustling with each movement.

?We made some robes, we made some light sabers,? said Garcia, 9, one of 22 young Jedis practicing with their light sabers during the weeklong Jedi Training at the Children?s Museum of Brownsville. Samantha Garcia, weekend associate, said the museum was doing a ?ton of Star Wars activities? this week, and the children were training with their light sabers everyday.

Wednesday afternoon, Walter Vasques was showing the children a few pieces of his collection of Star Wars paraphernalia that he began accumulating in the 1980s.

The children were transfixed by the collection spread across the table: figures of Jar Jar Binks from the first three episodes, or prequels of the Star Wars saga; the wise Yoda; Anakin Skywalker who would later become Darth Vader; Nute Gunray (also from the prequels); and Watto the Toydarian junk dealer who appeared in episodes one and two. There was the ever-familiar R2-D2, the monstrous AT-AT (All-Terrain Armored Transport) and the smaller All-Terrain Scout Transport."

(Thanks Som!)
