Three Normal guys... David, Michael and Damien. For them it's the last ever premiere of a Star Wars film. It's the last chance to go to a Premiere and Dress up. When our kids ask us in 20 years time if we were too chicken to dress up what will we say?? We can say... Of Course we dressed up! ... We're Irish. We can do whatever we want! And it's our last hope of ever doing it again!
The queue was huge! Over 1000 star wars fans descended on Belfast's most popular cinema on the Dublin Road to see the final chapter in the saga. We made our way to the cinema in our 4-wheeled landspeeder. The excitement was building up within us.. The Darkside was indeed everywhere! As we entered the cinema, the crowds were stunned at these intergalactic time travelling visitors from a galaxy far far away who had descended upon their planet, their country and their cinema.
We used an old Jedi mind trick on the cinema staff to gain access. Upon entry we were greeted by Darth Vader!! We thought he was back home on the Death Star. My personal highlight was that there was only positive feedback about our costumes. Applause amid "Look.. Jedi! Oh and The Emperor too!" Made the night special!
In the screening room itself the crowd were buzzing, fake lightsabers and costumes were everywhere. We were warmed up for the show by Yoda and Darth Vader doing a few moves for us.
Once it began a fantastic applause kicked up! At the end there was also a huge applause too! Brilliant. The movie was superb. The biggest laugh coming when Yoda knocked the 2 imperial guards down. The saddest of all seemed to be the inner screams of "DONT DO IT!!!" at Anakin! However, we left safe in the knowledge that balance would eventually be restored to the force in 7 hours time after our OT marathon.
All in all the most brilliant experience of Star Wars!
