Star Wars To Land At Comic-Con 2010!

The OTHER big convention of the summer, San Diego Comic-Con 2010, is right around the corner (July 22-25) and Starwars.com fills us in as to the rather busy Star Wars schedule of events...


THURSDAY, JULY 22
3:30 - 4:30 PM: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II Exclusive LIVE demo
Join LucasArts executive producer Haden Blackman for a thrilling new look at the sequel to the fastest-selling Star Wars game of all time. Blackman will share the latest scoop on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and show attendees how to use the Force at a devastating level never seen before. Room 6BCF

5:30 - 6:30 PM: Acme Archives Ltd.
This presentation focuses on the creative process used in producing limited-edition entertainment-based art and features a live performance from renowned Star Wars artist Christian Waggoner. He will be painting on stage while a panel of Acme representatives and Acme artists discuss limited-edition art and its creation. The entire procedure will be outlined, including finding new artists, discussing concepts, creating rough ideas, getting studio approvals, receiving finished art, preparing art for printing, and, ultimately, releasing the print on the Acme website. Questions will be taken throughout the program. Room 26AB



FRIDAY, JULY 23
10:00 - 11:00 AM: DK Star Wars: From Banthas to X-Wings
In 2010 DK Publishing will release several highly anticipated titles including Star Wars Year By Year; Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition; Star Wars Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia and LEGO Star Wars Brickmaster. Come join a panel of authors (Ryder Windham, Daniel Wallace, Gus Lopez, Pablo Hidalgo) and illustrators (Chris Reiff, Chris Trevas) to get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their newest books. Everyone who attends the panel will be entered to win one a DK Star Wars library! Room 7AB

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Star Wars and Hasbro
Come to the Hasbro Star Wars Panel to hear from the Hasbro Design and Marketing teams -- Derryl DePriest (Hasbro Marketing), Brian Parrish (Hasbro Design), Mark Boudreaux (Hasbro Design), Brian Merten (Hasbro Design), Chad Donvito (Hasbro Marketing), Andrew Franks, (Hasbro Design), and Vickie Stratford (Hasbro Design) -- on what is in store for the remainder of 2010. 1:00-2:00 PM: Beyond Solo: Crafting the Multiplayer Story in Star Wars: The Old Republic
Join James Ohlen (Studio Creative Director and Lead Designer, BioWare) Drew Karpyshyn (Principal Writer, BioWare), and Alexander Freed (Managing Editor, BioWare), along with Jake Neri (Senior Producer, LucasArts) as they discuss the creation of the multiplayer, planet-spanning story in Star Wars: The Old Republic. While much attention has been paid to the unique individual stories of each of the eight classes in the game, the team is excited to share their approach to the broader stories players will experience in The Old Republic. 2:00 - 3:00 PM: Star Wars: The Clone Wars -- Inside the Force
Join Dave Filoni (Supervising Director), Joel Aron (CG Supervisor) and Kilian Plunkett (Lead Designer) as the Lucasfilm Animation Artists take you on an in-depth journey from script to screen showing how an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is made, and the transformation of the animation style from Season One to the upcoming Season three. Moderated by Pablo Hidalgo. Room 7AB

3:00 - 4:00 PM: Star Wars Trivia Game Show
Members of the San Diego Star Wars Society, veteran hosts of trivia game shows at Star Wars Celebration III and at Comic-Con International since 2002, have prepared a bigger challenge this year for all fans who think they know their stuff about the galaxy far, far away. Added this year will be one game round for kids 12 and under. Come test your knowledge and win one of the many valuable prizes to be given away. Room 7AB.

5:30 - 6:30 PM: What's up with Penguin
Anne Sowards (executive editor, Ace/Roc), Jessica Wade (editor, Ace/Roc), and Mardie Cohen (marketing coordinator, Penguin Young Readers Group) give you the dish on forthcoming books from such exciting authors and licensed properties as Jim Butcher, Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, S. Her Universe will have a booth at one of the largest media conventions in the world! They will be located in Lucasfilm's special Star Wars Pavilion. SUNDAY, JULY 25
11:00 AM -12:00 PM: How to Draw Star Wars for Kids
Lucasfilm's Bonnie Burton (You Can Draw: Star Wars) and artist Katie Cook (The Clone Wars web comic) help kids draw fun Star Wars characters. Room 30CDF
