This evening, San Diego Comic-Con attendees got a sneak peek at The Clone Wars Season 5 courtesy of Pablo Hidalgo, Dave Filoni, and series head writer Matt Michnovetz.
2:00-3:00 Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Onto Season 5 The aftermath of season 4 has left the Star Wars galaxy a very dangerous place: Darth Maul is alive, Asajj Ventress is a bounty hunter, and the Mandalorian Death Watch is deadlier than ever. How will these threads continue in season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars? Find out in this behind-the-scenes panel, which will feature new clips, new insights, and more. Join the discussion with supervising director Dave Filoni and head writer Matt Michnovetz (who wrote season 4's powerful Umbara arc). Moderated by Star Wars author Pablo Hidalgo. Room 6DE
Both Entertainment Weekly and IGN got exclusive preview clips of the upcoming season. The clips were shown to panel attendees and posted online shortly thereafter. EW's clip gives us a glimpse of Darth Maul, while IGN's focuses on "Obi-Wan's surprising new allies." Click here for EW's clip and panel recap. IGN's clip is available here.
Blogger Amy Ratcliffe attended the panel and live-tweeted it. What follows is a selection of her observations.
So, to recap: no Boba Fett, but a Republic Commando; an intense role for Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan character; Tarkin might show up, and Sidious definitely will (see the IGN trailer above); ch-ch-ch-changes for Maul; and a whole lot more. Plus, Celebration VI attendees will get to watch the Season 5 premiere. That will be a must-see screening for sure.
Before today's panel, Ashley Eckstein interviewed Dave Filoni and Catherine Taber on the MTV Geek SDCC livestream. We'll have that video for you as soon as it's posted.
