Common Basis Theatre presents the New York Premiere of Untimely Ripped's Killing Jar Jar or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Just Wait In Line for Star Wars.
Written by Andrew Farrar & Elias Toufexis and directed by Farrar, this new comedy begins previews April 4th with opening night scheduled for Thursday, April 11th. Killing Jar Jar takes place in a line of motley freaks and sci-fi geeks waiting to buy tickets for the opening of Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace. It centers on Marc and Julian, two regular guys defying their girlfriends to wait in line and be first to catch a part of cinema history. Nothing will stop them from completing their mission -- not unfathomable boredom, not strange looks from passerbys, not even the overwhelming fear of being labeled geek by peers who just don't get it. Soon the cold nights, lack of proper food, and days without bathing --not to mention the truly bizarre characters they are forced to co-habitate with -- begin to eat away at Marc and Julian's friendship. Eventually one question looms large: Is it really worth it?
Untimely Ripped was founded in Montreal, Canada in 1998. The Company has produced numerous shows at venues throughout Montreal.
