Given yesterday's news about LucasArts licensing Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games, I thought it was worth reminding everyone that the company also recently hired the former creative director of Republic Commando to work on "an unannounced project."
As we previously reported, LucasArts hired Tim Longo, who oversaw development of the Tomb Raider game series, at the beginning of April. Besides Republic Commando, Longo's Star Wars work also includes Star Wars: Starfighter and Jedi Starfighter.
We don't know if Longo's game will be Star Wars-related or not -- in fact, we don't know anything about this game. Still, hiring the man who served as Republic Commando's creative director and licensing the next version of that game's engine seems mighty coincidental. We'll just have to wait and see what LucasArts says about this new project in the future.
