Star Wars as a Modern Myth
Conclusion
The Star Wars saga has griped American society for close to 22 years now. Star Wars came along at a time when people needed a fairy tale, a myth. America in the 1970's was a desolate place; a void was filled in American culture, a society with no escape or release from the corrupt world around them. Star Wars was a release for all generations, and today as the prequels come out we see the lasting effects of the movies. The movies not only succeed because of their classical story origin but because we all can relate to the characters. More then a franchise Star Wars has etched itself into our social fabric and is indefinitely a part of whom we are, and what we want to be.
May the Force be with you.
