Screenrant.com recently got the chance to chat with Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston about the new film. Johnston, before becoming a big-time movie director, previously worked on the original Star Wars trilogy as a designer and visual art director. He, along with Ralph McQuarrie, is credited for the design that eventually became Boba Fett's outfit.
Per the Screen Rant interview, Johnston would love to return to the character of Boba Fett. Johnston noted that he's trying to convince George Lucas to to make a film about Boba Fett and that he would love to direct it. Click here to check out the source article.
This concept has garnered a lot of web attention and we freely admit that we'd love to see it. That being said, this concept comes from Joe Johnston alone and there have been no indications from LFL that this would actually happen.
Not to be a naysayer, but considering Boba's involvement in The Clone Wars (which may be on hiatus though he could return at any point) and the fact that Boba was mentioned as being a part of the forthcoming live-action series, one can only assume that the character is off-limits to anyone but George for now. It's fun to dream though!
We got a lot of e-mails on this one so thanks to everyone who sent over links and news tips.
