Yesterday, longtime Apple CEO and tech industry legend Steve Jobs announced that he was resigning as chief executive of the company and moving into a less active role as chairman of the board. The Star Wars angle to this story begins with the fact that in 1986, before he developed some of the world's most iconic portable electronics, Steve Jobs bought what became the Pixar animation studio (which he would later sell to Disney) from an aspiring young director named George Lucas.
When news broke that Steve Jobs was stepping back from his work at Apple, the Wall Street Journal contacted Lucas to get his opinion on the situation. Here's what Lucas told the Journal:
?A person like Steve Jobs comes along once in a lifetime,? [Lucas] said in an email, sent through a spokeswoman. ?Steve?s contributions to technology, marketing and design are overwhelming. He has changed America forever ? for the good ? and has built a strong company that will continue to be creative and successful.?
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
