Independent.co.uk reports that Electronic Arts has relaunched its online store with the new name Origin. What exactly does this mean for fans of EA games? Here's what the Origin site has to say by way of an introduction:
"Origin lets you purchase and play your favorite EA games - any time and any place you want. With the in-game overlay, you can chat with your friends and browse the web while playing select games.
Origin's new social features allow you to create a profile, connect and chat with your friends, share your game library, and effortlessly join your friends' games.
Origin streamlines the download process, for quick, easy installation and use. Direct download of PC games requires the Origin client, and once you have it, you'll be able to access your game library from virtually anywhere. You can even play your favorite games on other PCs when you're on the go.
For gamers on the go, Origin services are also available on your mobile device! With the world's leading mobile gaming portfolio, EA offers mobile gamers an unmatched experience through Origin, including the ability to find and connect with your friends to play and share in a leading edge smartphone environment. All for you, all on Origin."
And just how does this pertian to Star Wars? LucasArts and BioWare are currently developing Star Wars: The Old Republic and EA purchased BioWare back in 2007. It's safe to say that we can expect The Old Republic to be an exclusive download on Origin once it's finally released. More as we hear it!
UPDATE: Well, it didn't take long for Star Wars: The Old Republic to show up on Origin. The cinematic video titled "Choose," which was first displayed at yesterday's E3 EA press conference, is now available to view on Origin's main page. Of course, you can also watch both newly released TOR cinematic videos right here at TFN.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
