Variety reports that a 3D conversion artist working for Prime Focus let it slip that his company would be assisting Lucasfilm in the conversion process for the 3D Star Wars re-releases.
While Lucasfilm has consistently declined to reveal what vendors are doing the conversion of its crown jewels, the LinkedIn profile for Hyderabad-based Roto artist Ramidi Ashwin Kumar includes "NED Star Wars 3D" among his completed Prime Focus credits. [...] We hear through the grapevine that NED stands for Needs Extra Depth.
Kumar's profile has since been scrubbed of any mention of his Star Wars work (as you can see at the link above), and Lucasfilm didn't return Variety's calls when they sought comment. Prime Focus confirmed that their artists had done "tests using using material from LucasFilm," but denied that it was related to the 3D film project.
Rebelscum Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Patch Posted By Philip on November 25, 2014: Thanks to everybody that ordered patches. I sent a check for $1,600.00 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday. While it's not as much as I hoped for, it's still very much appreciated. They will remain for sale in the store for anybody that still wishes to purchase them. Details after the jump.
