When you think of the characters from the Star Wars saga that you'd like to see in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, who's at the top of your list?
If you said Admiral Ackbar, you may be in luck.
MTV News recently interviewed voice actor Maurice Lamarche about the video game projects he's working on right now. Lamarche seemed to suggest that he was working on a Star Wars project and that he was providing the voice for everyone's favorite Rebel Admiral.
"I'll just say that I have been paid to say the words 'May the Force be with you.' That's all I'll say. I'll just add that I won't be ordering any calamari anytime soon. It's given me a new respect for calamari, if you know what I'm saying. It's not a trap. This adventure takes place a long time before the trap."
It's possible that he's referring to The Force Unleashed II, although the details of Ackbar's pre-Admiral days are unclear. The Rebel Alliance rescued the Mon Calamari from his forced servitude under Grand Moff Tarkin a few years before the Battle of Yavin, but both the exact year of his rescue and how that works into TFU II's timeline remain unclear.
Seeing (and hearing) Ackbar in a video game would be cool, but if the rumor doesn't pan out, we'll all feel like this.
UPDATE: TFN reader Jesse wrote in to remind me of a Star Tours II rumor that involves Ackbar. He points out that Lamarche could have been referring to voicework he did for this project and not TFU II. As we mentioned in our May 2009 article about production of the Disney revamp, Ackbar is rumored to play a role in the new ride's story. Jesse also pointed me to this LA Times story which quotes a Disney news release as saying that Star Tours II will take place in between the two trilogies. This fits with what Lamarche said about his Ackbar adventure taking place "a long time before the trap."
