Disney's Acquisition Of Lucasfilm Is Complete

Lucasfilm personnel officially became Disney employees today as The Walt Disney Company completed its purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd. following European Union regulators' approval of the deal. (The U.S. Federal Trade Commission approved the deal earlier this month.) Disney paid George Lucas $2.21 billion in cash and issued him 37.1 million shares of Disney stock (currently valued at $50 per share), for a grand total of $4.065 billion. As Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo wryly noted on Twitter today:
