Star Wars In Latest Overstreet Price Guide Posted By Jay on March 27, 2008
Since Star Warsis forever, it stands to reason that it would be spotlighted in the current volume (#38) of the Official Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. Hey, the 30th anniversary may have been last year, but who's counting?
The book itself comes with three separate covers, one of which is a Doug Wheatly image of Vader and Fett, as shown above, while there is also a Marvel Villains version by Mark Sparacio, and a retro Superman version by artist Murphy Anderson.
If you're looking for the Star Wars cover, don't go to to the bookstore. This edition, as well as the Marvel Villains version, are direct-market versions only. That means they are being shipped by Diamond Comics to comic retailers across the country, as of March 19th. If your comic dealer doesn't have copies in stock, you can ask them to order you one. But the choices don't end there! Each of the direct market editions comes in a standard softcover version ($29.95) and a handy hardcover edition ($35). I opted for the hardcover version as it was only $5 more, but please use your best judgment!
If you'd prefer to wait and pick this book up at a book store or via an online retailer, the Superman version will be released from House of Collectibles (an imprint of Del Rey/RandomHouse) on April 8. It will only come in a softcover edition.
Regardless of which edition you pick up, you will be sure to get plenty of ads, as well as the years reports on sales of various modern, silver and golden age comics. Plus articles on Star Wars by John Jackson Miller, and a helpful guide to the grading process. Oh yes, and of course, the latest pricing information for thousands of comic books.
