Dark Horse, Del Rey Meet With Lucasfilm

Posted By Eric on November 12, 2011

Teams from Del Rey Books and Dark Horse Comics were at Lucasfilm's Presidio campus in San Francisco on Thursday and Friday to plan the future of Star Wars publishing. From Del Rey, director of publishing and creative development Keith Clayton, licensing editor Frank Parisi, and editor-at-large Shelly Shapiro attended. From Dark Horse, editors Randy Stradley and Dave Marshall, plus Marketing VP Micha Hershman, attended. Here are a few links to give you a sense of what the publishing pow-wow was like:

  • "Ahoy from the Barbary Coast! Del Rey is in San Francisco to meet with Lucasfilm and Dark Horse Comics to brainstorm ideas for upcoming books. Yoda says hi." - Erich Schoeneweiss on Del Rey Star Wars Books Facebook page.

  • Randy Stradley created a live blog (with photos) of the Dark Horse team's journey to Lucasfilm. They just happened to see Joss Whedon in the LFL lobby -- what could that mean? Also pictured in Randy's photos: Leland Chee, Lucasfilm's continuity manager; Lucas Licensing art director Troy Alders; and new LucasBooks Senior Editor Jennifer Heddle.
  • Speaking of Heddle, she tweeted the following: "Just finished 2 days of meetings with Random House & Dark Horse about future projects. Feeling very energized about SW publishing!"
  • Now that the meeting is over, Del Rey's Frank Parisi has a tease, if you can even call it that, for all you book fans.
