Summary

Ackbar addresses Rebels taking a flight simulator test, among them Luke, Han, Nien, and Fenn. They must navigate radiation belts and fight TIEs. Ignoring instructions, Han uses typical haphazard piloting and Luke flies sans targeting computer. Later, jealous at seeing Leia with Fenn, Han greets Bey and Chewie. A famous ground-fighter, Bey is known even on Tatooine. Cast out by his father when his mother left, Bey saved Han from childhood bullies and the two became friends; over the years, he taught Han self-defense, earned a Corellian Bloodstripe, and lost an eye on a mission that saved many lives. Bahb, Jahn, Marruc, and Rahuhl summon Han to a meeting and find Luke practicing his lightsaber with three blaster remotes. En route to the meeting, Luke tells of his encounter with Lumiya on Kinooine. At the meeting, Ackbar, Mothma, and Leia explain that the Nagai have made a first strike and they must evacuate Endor so as not to endanger the Ewoks. All pilots are assigned X- and Y-Wings except Han and Luke, who failed their test and cannot be cleared for liftoff. Lando suggested the test to stay active when they were removed from the decision-making process. The fleet departs with Chewie and Nien manning the Falcon . Alone, Han and Luke follow Tippet on speeder bikes to check out a strange sighting, spying Knife and other Nagai with huge robotic fighters, Maccabree Warriors; apparently, a traitor in their ranks freed Knife. The battle begins, Fenn's Mandalorian forces fighting alongside Rebels, Lando and Wedge manning the Cobra . The Nagai landed hours earlier, using the fleet as a diversion so Lt. Hool's troops could storm the Rebel base. A Nagai spots Han and Luke spying, but Luke kills him and runs to warn Ackbar, as Han and Tippet's Ewok band fight the Maccabrees. Nothing seems to stop them, for when Han shoots one's head off, another head forms in its chest, so Han launches a speeder at it, killing it. In space, Gold Four is shot down before Gold Two can assist. The Nagai seem to know their flight plans, and as Lando tries Counter-Attack Pattern 1-109, Lumiya, now allied with the Nagai, recognizes it and regroups. As Ackbar and Mothma monitor the battle from the base, Leia, the Zeltron boys, and the droids monitor from another location. Suddenly, a Maccabree topples the wall and grabs Rahuhl, then others attack en masse. Bey stops Han in the woods. He is the traitor, as his mother was a Nagai scout who came to this galaxy years ago and produced a child on Corellia. Seeing a galaxy ripe for conquest, she told her people to delay attack until the Rebels beat the Empire. He learned this years later, when he crashed on a world outside this galaxy and found Nagai. Her family welcomed him and he felt at home for the first time ever. Now he is torn, unable to kill Han. Knife, Bey's half-brother, appears to finish the job. Han shoots him, but Bey lets him leave, staying behind to save Knife. Ackbar tells Lando to retreat, for the Nagai know their plans, but Lando formulates new plans, and Lumiya eventually retreats. Fenn is amazed at Lando's flying tactics, but Lando admits they were Han's and regrets the test. Maccabrees nearly kill Leia and the boys, but Luke arrives, senses brains in their chests, and kills them. The others shed limbs and launch into space, leaving the Rebels confused. Later, Luke offers to drop the boys off on Zeltros before joining the fleet, but they want to stay. They are surprised Luke is cleared for flight, but now that war has been declared, all peace-time restrictions have been lifted. EnsViews Comic Review
