In Bright Tree Village, Han tries to borrow money from a Rebel who lent him money on Hoth, but since Han never paid him, he refuses. Leia tries to console him, but he feels useless and refuses her charity. As Chewie naps with Ewoks, she watches Han storm off. Luke, Lando, and Captain Wedge Antilles arrive, elated over the victory. As they console Leia, Han checks the Falcon to be sure Chewie and Lando took care of her, seeing the dice with which he won her from Lando. Chewie boards and gives a reassuring hug, then R2 and Leia join him on a trip to Tatooine to retrieve money stored there before Jabba froze him. Chewie stays to study Ewok hunting methods and 3PO staysto translate Ewokese. On Tatooine, Jawas find Fett unconscious near the Great Pit of Carkoon while scavenging Jabba's sail barge. Thinking him a droid or cyborg, they take him to their sandcrawler. Garrick, a Mos Eisley dock officer, denies Han landing rights since he paid no fees last time, but Leia provides her clearance codes. As R2 recharges, Leia and Han go to a bank. She waits outside and is thought a prostitute by an alien. She learns that Jawas have grown daring and deadly with Jabba gone. The bank denies Han his money, for the computer lists him as "frozen" and the teller will not listen to reason. Visiting a cantina, they realize R2 can tap the computer and fix the error, but when they return to the ship, they find Jawa footprints but no R2. Visiting Garrick's landspeeder garage solves nothing, for he refuses to help, so they steal two 'speeders and head for the desert. Inside the 'crawler, R2 is shocked to see Fett. Following tracks, Leia and Han open fire on the vehicle. As Jawas return fire, a droid prevents R2 from fleeing by activating his restraining bolt. Fett awakens with amnesia as bantha-riding Sandpeople join the fray. Thinking Leia fired, Han jumps to the vehicle, but Leia is shot down and Han is almost hit and falls inside. His 'speeder is stuck in the treads, rolling it toward the sarlaac pit. Seeing Fett, he expects to die, then realizes Fett has amnesia. Fett helps Han and R2 out; Han considers leaving him to die, but decides to help him. Fett suddenly remembers him and tries to kill him, so Han jumps to safety as the sarlaac swallows Fett and the 'crawler. As he and R2 rejoin Leia and begin walking back to Mos Eisley, Han is amazed that he tried to help his worst enemy.
