Summary

The "Iskalon Effect" floods Pavillion, killing both air-breathers and the School. Luke and Leia are caught in the current with only one air-tank, and when Leia panics, he gives her the tank, surviving on Jedi skills. Kendle signals for them to follow, but an Iskalonian named Kiro shows up, knife in hand. On Gamandar, the Falcon requests landing clearance, Mone posing as its captain, and docks at Landing Zone TQ3X4. Mone is shocked to see men and nature in bondage. If they find Vanis, Mone will need to allay his suspicions, while the droids will communicate with K-3PX. As they walk the base, R2 wanders to find a computer outlet and Lando disguises himself as Captain Drebble, a collector of 3P droids to whom Vanis owes money. Chewie is angry, for Han never resorted to subterfuge, and Mone doesn't understand deceit. As 3PO defines the concept metaphorically, Imperials assign R2 to a shipping-and-loading area. Lando smooth-talks Tower into letting him peruse the base to buy droids, promising a cut if he finds Vanis. Tower pretends to be fooled, showing him a huge holo of Vader, who wants Vanis and would be happy to settle both scores at once, and as they leave, Tower's spy reveals their identities. The loading officers are pleased with R2's work but know not who he his, so one claims to own him. The Rebels visit the loading area, where a deck officer has several A3 and C3 droids and a K-3PX unit for sale. They buy K-3PX, who is rude and leery of them. Lando tries to reassure him, but he is upset at hearing that Luke and Leia are on Iskalon. At Pavillion, Kendle flees as Kiro cuts Leia's air-hose so she can exit a hole in the wreckage. Luke and Leia nearly drown en rout to the surface, shocked the Empire would kill "innocent mermen" and Stormtroopers when there's no Rebellion on Iskalon. Luke realizes they were after him and Leia, but can't figure out how the Empire knew they were here. They find Primor dead, and when Kendle tries to mourn him, Kiro says she caused the destruction and that they smashed each other's tanks on Pavillion when he caught her betraying them. Meanwhile, in a cell on Gamandar, Lando and the others lie unconscious. EnsViews Comic Review
