Marvel Star Wars #51
RESURRECTION OF EVIL
Published: September 1981
Story: DAVID MICHELINIE
Art: WALTER SIMONSON and THOMAS PALMER
Summary

Captain Maraba Tev, caught spying on Imperials in the Patriim Planetary System, escapes to Rebel space but dies on arrival, his X-Wing on full thrust. Bosun, a Rebel comm-officer, can't reach him, so the base shoots off his engines and pulls him aboard; Jace, a dock-worker, arranges a hero's funeral, and Tev's message canister is found. Rieekan briefs his officers and recalls key personnel: Leia and 3PO are surveying a lush world when gundarks attack with long tongues, immune to blaster fire. 3PO stands on a plant to lure them into entangling their tongues, then they escape in a probe ship and receive the recall order. Luke and R2 are surveying another world and find a communications beacon, but an AT-ST and AT-ATs spot them and he realizes this is an Imperial monitor base; Major Kuhru tells the AT-ST to destroy his X-Wing and capture him for Vader, but R2 activates shields, he destroys the beacon and AT-ST, and they escape to hear the recall order. In the Falcon , Lando and Chewie pursue Shem-lern, a gun-runner who knows where Fett took Han; Shem-lern yells a curse that would "make a Corona Sailor blush" and hides in an asteroid field, but before Lando can pursue, they are recalled. Rieekan briefs them on the Tarkin , a base with a Death Star-like ionic cannon but better engines and shielding. Aboard Executor , Vader executes Kuhru for failing, making him walk out an airlock. As the only living Rebels to see the Death Star's interior, Luke, Leia, Chewie, and the droids are sent to destroy the Tarkin . Lando asks to go, but Han's friends are cold to him and refuse. Posing as a damaged spice freighter, the Falcon visits Hockaleg, a garrison world in the Patriim Planetary System, from which construction crews are shuttled to the Tarkin . Leia flirts with Brunok, a macho worker, and steals his uniform, then Luke uses the Force to make a trooper let them board a shuttle to an orbital dry-dock. Seeing them, Vader tells Captain Voal to leave all main power reactors unguarded as a trap. Voal sees to the order, then goes to a maintenance area to meet General Biel and other officers who, tired of Vader's fatal discipline, have vowed to kill him. EnsViews Comic Review
