Marvel Star Wars #32
THE JAWA EXPRESS
Published: February 1980
Story: ARCHIE GOODWIN
Art: CARMINE INFANTINO and BOB WIACEK
Summary

When Luke's landspeeder overheats in the Dune Sea under the twin suns, the droids offer their coolant. Chewie smells troops on dewbacks over the ridge, so they flee to Luke's freighter, scaring wild womp rats. They find Jawas scavenging it and bargain for a ride in their sandcrawler, but first the Jawas plan to finish a three-month scavenging run. When troops arrive and demand they turn over the Rebels, Han and Chewie shoot the ridge out from under their feet, dropping them on their comrades below and destroying the path. The Jawas detour through the Jundland Wastes, but fear the area since the Tagges experiment here. They see two huge conductors and a sandcrawler and stop to scavenge, but Luke senses trouble and ushers them away as the Omega Frost freezes everything between the conductors, shattering the other sandcrawler. As Silas, Orman, and several others survey the results, the Rebels watch from a distance, unaware the Tagges have sent Units Two and Three to trap them until a Troop Carrier fires at them so sloppily that Luke realizes they've been set up. Grateful to Luke, the Jawas ram the Carrier with their 'crawler. Units Two and Three pursue, so the Jawas dump ignited Skyhopper propellant, causing the carriers to explode. The Jawas lubricate the droids and the 'speeder, then return to the Due Sea, while the Rebels return to Mos Eisley to get the Falcon and warn the Alliance about the Omega Frost.
