Retail outlets have used merchandising displays since the very beginning of Star Wars. She set out to develop ways of looking at these challenges that enabled her to get over thirty novels published. Come see if her tips and tricks can help you over these rough spots too!" This seminar is part of a three-part series that also includes Aaron Allston's "Talk to Me: Dialogue and Character Voice," and Troy Denning's "Building Plots With Character." No recording devices, please.

5:00-6:00 -- Talk to Me: Dialogue and Character Voice
New York Times bestselling author Aaron Allston (Outcast, Backlash) presents a talk for writers, including aspiring professionals and fanfic writers, on character dialogue. In this hour-long seminar, Allston discusses the role of dialogue in establishing and sustaining characterization, developing humor, influencing reader reactions, establishing the mood and tone of scenes, eliminating unnecessary and unwanted exposition, and -- a special consideration for media tie-in novels such as the Star Wars series -- portraying well-known characters from the movies and previous novels so that they remain familiar and believable to their fans.

A question-and-answer session rounds out the discussion. This seminar is part of a three-part series that also includes Christie Golden's "Things I Hate (But Learned How to Do Anyway, and So Can You!)" and Troy Denning's "Building Plots With Character." No recording devices, please.
