Sue Rostoni announced on the SW.com boards that Troy Denning's Abyss, the third novel in the Fate of the Jedi series, will now be coming out on August 18th as opposed to the original release date of August 25th. She also noted that the back cover is currently being worked on, and included the following info in response to a question about hardcover lengths...
"SOEJ: OMEN is about 260 pages long (page proofs)-- not terribly long, but not really short either. ABYSS is 480 pages (double-spaced manuscript)
It's difficult to judge a book by its size.
And it's not good form to add in a space battle (or something) just to increase page count.... stretching out a story only slows the pacing.... all the elements of a story must fit to move the plot/characters forward, and sometimes it takes less pages than other times.
I don't believe the decision on hard cover or soft cover has much to do with page count -- it's more about the author and the story."
