A quick note to say that extensive spoilers for the new Star Wars novel Invincible are appearing over on TF.N's "Jedi Council" message-boards.
I'll post the link in a moment for those who want to read more - but beware of significant details about both the PLOT and the ENDING of this new novel. As I pointed out in this post last year, spoiler information is a very different thing from actually reading the book.
If you go hunting spoilers, you'll be missing out in two ways. Firstly, you're not going to get the subtle nuances that are there in the book to enrich every plot-point. On top of that that, you're only going to get a partial summary of the events in the novel this way. That could put you in a position where you're making judgments about specific points without knowing the whole story, potentially even developing prejudices that wouldn't stand up if you were reading the book for yourself.
In short, you're only getting abstract items of information, not the full meaning of the story you're wanting to know about. You might end up with a misleading impression of what it's about—and you will be partially surrendering your ability to judge the actual novel for yourself.
Since that point was made to me last year, you may have noticed that I've really changed the way I deal with spoilers here. You can find them over in the spoiler thread on the message boards, but I'm going to make you work for them, if you still think you really want them after reading what I've just said....
One thing I will say is this: although some scepticism has been expressed by people in the thread, I'm pretty sure these spoilers are genuine. Early sightings of the book occurred in Sweden (from someone who previously provided reliable spoilers for True Colors) and Amsterdam (from prominent JC member SuperWatto), and extensive details are now being supplied by StarNeptune, who is regularly among the first people to get copies of the books.
I'm pretty sure she manages that because she's in Canada, where they seem to be more liberal about putting books on the shelves early, and not because she's an admin on Wookieepedia, but her role at "the Wook" should be an indicator of her reliability: she's not the sort of person who goes around making these things up.
However, for the reasons outlined earlier in this post, we WON'T be bringing you regular spoiler updates here. We'll bring you in-depth reviews as soon as our review team get hold of copies, but that might not be for a couple of weeks.
