By now, many of you are probably familiar with the Wikipedia. If not, think of it as an online reference guide to...well, everything. It's been running for several years now, and the thing that makes it so special is that it's entirely open-source. That means that anyone who can read it can edit it, the result of which is an amazingly accurate and self-regulating database; the more popular a wiki gets, the more people there are to add to it, double-check information, monitor it for vandalism, and so on. As it increased in popularity, it also increased in scope, leading to spin-offs like Wikibooks and the Wikiversity.
The point of this post, though, is one Wiki-spawn in particular: the Wookieepedia. Operating under the Wikicities banner, the Wookieepedia is one of many unique "cities" - smaller, centralized encyclopedias dealing extensively with a single topic. Obviously, this one's all about Star Wars. Founded last March by Chad Barbry, aka WhiteBoy, the Wookieepedia has since grown to 18,000 articles and counting, but there's still a lot of work to be done - TFN's own Completely Unofficial Encyclopedia, for example, currently has over 50,000 articles. And that's done by one guy!
In other words, if you like writing about Star Wars, have a preponderance of Essential Guides and Sourcebooks lying around, or just want to see this thing meet its full potential, now's the time to get on board! Of course, there's nothing wrong with just reading it, but I'd be willing to bet that in no time you'll find yourself thinking "what, no article for the Tonnika sisters?? Something must be done!"
