This is basically Luke's diary from his life during the time of A New Hope. It records Luke's daily thoughts and feelings on the events from the film.
Scott:
Like the other Star Wars Journal books, it is an interesting idea to tell the story from one of the main character's point of view. Unfortunately, it only works for so long. But this book actually has some high points to it. Mainly, it includes the cut Biggs scenes and some of the early Tatooine scenes from the radio drama. It also includes a brief early first meeting between Ben, Windy, Luke, and Uncle Owen! Kind of neat, Finally, it has a nice cover by Maren.
Scott:
Like the other Star Wars Journal books for kids, this would not have interested me as a kid. I'd be more likely to go watch the films again if I wanted a retelling of the film. An original story would have been more preferable. And it's kind of funny to think of Luke stopping to take time on the Falcon and write in his diary. Yeah, it was necessary to make the story work, but it cracked me up.
Scott:
The first Journal book I read was hard to get through. This one, the second, was even harder to get through. Man, the things I go through for you guys. ;)
