Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina
edited by Kevin J. Anderson

Published by Bantam Publishing

Scott's Rating:   3.5 out of 4

When you watched the Cantina Scene in STAR WARS and saw all of those aliens, did you ever wonder who they were, where they came from, why they were there? Well this collection of short stories answers all of those questions and more. These stories are written by some of the best out there. There are stories about Greedo, Hammerhead, the Jawas, the Stormtroopers, the Bartender, the Ranat, etc, etc. Some of these characters only blink on the screen for a fraction of a second. All of their stories lead up to the time when Obi Wan and Luke enter the Cantina and meet Han Solo. These stories give you a whole new insight into the film STAR WARS.

Scott:

I really loved this book! I really enjoyed getting a taste of a wide variety of authors writing about the Star Wars Universe. If there was one you were bored with, you could move right on to the next one. My particular favorites were Timothy Zahn's story of the Tonnika Sisters, Greedo's Tale by (I can't recall who at the moment), Doug Beason's story of the Stormtrooper, Kevin Anderson's Jawa's tale and the connected Ranat's tale by Rebecca Moesta, and the Spacer's Tale written by I can't recall whom. All of these stories were fun, action packed, and very entertaining, not to mention they had a much greater impact on the Star Wars Universe than you might think! I consider this a must read.

Scott:

At some point in every one of the stories, you come to the scene where Luke gets into the fight with the criminal or where Han ventilates Greedo. Once you've read that scene ten times, it tends to get monotonous. There's only so many perspectives you can view it from and still find it entertaining. Also, reading the better stories made you less tolerant of the ones you may not care for. You find yourself saying "I wish they would have made the good one longer and left out this crummy one!" It was still a lot of fun.

Scott:

That lamprey lookin thing and the Wolfman falling in love. Great Jumpin' Horny Toads! Just imagine what their kids would look like!!! Ugh!
